I was lucky enough to see this movie in 70mm widescreen at various Revival Houses over the years. I haven't watched it since then, but I'm definitely watching along with you this weekend. Can't WAIT to hear your thoughts on this Cinematic Triumph! 🤓

You can see the influence in so many films that came after this "Dune, Star Wars, Mad Max, Indiana Jones" to name a few I'm truly excited to watch this masterpiece again

This is a great film. By the way, you talked about it having both a Arabian action adventure feel and a western feel in it. Their is actually a film that actually mixed those two genres together very well in the mid 2000’s called Hidalgo. Also adds an element of horse racing in it as well. Stars Viggo Mortensen and Omar Sharif (Sharif Ali from Lawrence of Arabia). Think you would have a fun time with that one.

Denis Villeneuve was heavily influenced by Lawrence of Arabia when he made Dune its filmed in a lot of the same locations

By the way, Prince Faisal was the actor that played Obi-Wan Kenobi the original Star Wars trilogy.

Also, if you want to checkout another long epic again. Check out Ben-Hur (1959). Another Brilliant epic masterpiece and the Chariot race in that film is one of the greatest stunts and action scenes of all-time. Also it won 11 Academy Awards and was nominated for 12. It holds the record with Titanic and Lord of the Rings The Return of the King for the most Academy Award wins ever for a film.
