Hey James, I'd like to make a particular request for this week. Gallipoli (1981) directed by Peter Weir (he also directed Master and Commander) with a very young Mel Gibson in one of his earliest roles. This week on the 25th of April is Anzac Day. As a bit of background, it commemorates the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps who served and died in the Gallipoli campaign and in WW1. The date itself marks the anniversary of the landing of the ANZACS at Gallipoli (now Gelibolu, Turkey) in 1915. As you'd expect from the name, the film tells a story around the events of that campaign. It is considered an important film in Australian cinema and won 8 Australian Film Institute awards on it's release, so I would love to hear your thoughts on it.
