The Lord of the Rings is one of those movies that when I have finished watching it, I just want to watch it all over again. To me it hits my soul every time and it's so beautiful. Thank you for your thoughts, inspirational words, and your reaction to these movies. I thouroughly enjoyed this <3

Singing Wordwright

The "bigature" for the city of Minas Tirith was shot in the same quarry as the bigature for the Helm's Deep battle. I think what you will appreciate more than the extended version of the movies themselves are the appendices that came with the extended edition DVDs. Each set had TWO FULL DVDs full of documentaries, interviews, and behind-the-scenes featurettes. The first DVD would have "from book to script" dealing with the process of translating the novels for screen and the pre-production process. The second disc would have "from script to screen" material, dealing with the actual filming and post-production. It was something like a full 8-hours of supplemental material FOR EACH MOVIE. Generally I'm mostly interested in the second disc, because that's where you see the actual filming and hear the tales of what happened in that process.
