I'll throw another foreign film in there. Sin Nombre. This was Cary Fukunaka's first film ever and it was spec. He went on to direct the newest James Bond film "No Time to Die."

For as long as I live, I will keep on suggesting 'Sling Blade' (1997) because of Billy Bob Thornton's performance, and for my second one 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' (2011) because of the amazing opening sequence and Rooney Mara's 'How did she NOT win the Oscar??' performance.

Alan Walker

Elliott Smith

The Thirteenth Floor (1999) Running Scared (2006)

Rickard Blixt

Enemy of the State (1998) is a great action thriller that sadly no one is talking about anymore. Another fantastic thriller that also has Gene Hackman in a leading role (together with Willem Dafoe) is Mississippi Burning (1988). Don’t believe there’s any reaction videos out there of any of those two.

Anonymous

Let Me In (2010) dir. Matt Reeves; a remake of Let The Right One In that holds its own Eastern Promises (2007) dir. David Cronenberg; Russian gangster drama

Millenium Actress (Satoshi Kon) Prince of Egypt (first traditionally animated feature by DreamWorks)

Wilss

Duel (1971) Early Spielberg The Terminator (1984) If you've not already seen it.

Evo García

Last Action Hero (1993): A very meta film and an acid satire for the action movies in general Upgrade (2018): A low budget film with very unique tricks

Anonymous

Clue please!

Anonymous

I love both of those films. ... Everyone should watch Enemy of the State and think about what Edward Snowden said. It does have quietly underrated cast to it. Mississippi Burning is a film that everyone who cries about how racist things are today needs to see to understand how things used to be

Anonymous

My number one choice still remains Pump Up The Volume (1990) However, it may be difficult to find so I will put forward a couple of John Woo classics from his Hong Kong days ... The Killer (1989) and Hard Boiled (1992). He was the first director to really embrace the two pistol-wielding technique known as Both Barrels Blazing

Anonymous

The Game Arlington road

Here's two that probably would never win a poll but what the hell. The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928) directed by Carl Theodor Dreyer. A Man for All Seasons (1966) directed by Fred Zinnemann.

Let the right one in is on the channel ma dude. I think u can make another suggestion 😄

Ken

Great moviemaking. They went old, old school with the effects. It’s all in-camera and on set, not post-production

Kaitlin

I’ve got five but we’re going into Valentine’s Day and I know you love a good romance so here they are! Moonstruck Sabrina (1954) Some Like It Hot Phantom Thread Casablanca

Anonymous

Any of these Tarkovsky films: Stalker (1979) Solaris (1972) The Mirror (1975)

Ken

Good movies, Which two do you think you'll go with?

Matt

PARIS TEXAS 1984, FIRST MAN 2018

Anonymous

Mommy (2014) dir. Xavier Dolan Paths of Glory (1957) dir. Stanley Kubrick

Jon Johns

Smokin' Aces -- 2006 -- stacked cast, fun action film, some clever cinematography, and plot twists + color explosion ( I don't know the technical term for how bright and colorful some of this film is.) Hard Eight -- 1996 -- Paul Thomas Anderson's first - great cast, see what a young autuer on a limited budget can do with a broad character study.

Anonymous

Deliverance (1972) The Year of Living Dangerously (1982)

Sonia Deepak

E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982) - It's Spielberg and such a classic (stranger things pays homage to it) Grosse Pointe Blank (1997) - Hilarious Dark comedy staring John Cusack, Joan Cusack, Minnie Driver, Alan Arkin and Dan Aykroyd.

Sonia Deepak

James I had suggested these 2 movies above (ET and Grosse Point Blank) before but they never made it onto the polls. Have you scene them before? Or are they just further down the list?

Patrick

The Talented Mr. Ripley- Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cate Blanchett, and Philip Seymour Hoffman

Anonymous

I'll go with 2 very recent movies : "Boiling Point" and "Mass"

Bryan Tuck

How about these? 1941 (1979) - Considered one of Spielberg's weakest films, but it has moments that must be seen to be believed. Hail, Caesar! (2016) - Coen Bros. tribute to / commentary on Golden Age Hollywood.

Nikki Sonrisa

Dolores Claiborne (1995) - for our love of Kathy Bates Tremors 2: Aftershocks (1996) - to continue with the Tremors series

Anonymous

Das Boot!!! Downfall!!! (Must see), Carlito's way, Hair (a musical, but great, same director as Amadeus)

Bert Taverner

Marx Brothers' Duck Soup (1933) Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)

Outstanding call on both (Short Cuts slipped my mind entirely......shame on me)

Anonymous

After Hours and A Simple Plan.

Mr. Propane

1. Smokin Aces - Dope cast including Jeremy Piven, Ryan Reynolds, Taraji P. Henson, Ray Liotta, and the acting debut for both Common & Alicia Keys. 2. Pain & Gain - Absolutely wild movie based on a true story with Wahlberg, The Rock, Anthony Mackie, Tony Shalhoub and Ed Harris

Anonymous

Hara-Kiri (1962) - Masterclass deconstruction of feudal Japan. Arguably the most well-constructed film I've ever seen.

Anonymous

The Farewell and Hunt for the Wilderpeople

Michael Llaneza

Rumble in the Bronx and Legend of Drunken Master 2. Time for Jackie Chan !

Cody Price

Hoosiers (1986) That Thing You Do! A film produced, written, directed, and acted in by Tom Hanks. He also co-wrote a few songs in the film as well.

H Blackwell

I'm gonna recommend The Last Dragon. You are going to love this movie. It's kinda like the grown up version of The Karate Kid with a black cast. lol

Anonymous

'Seven Samurai', isn't it time to pick up another masterpiece by Kurosawa? 'Tampopo' is one of those little gems that makes you enjoy life more, all be it a bit hungry

Anonymous

Two of my favorites: The Fall and Eastern Promises! Both are great.

David Wayne Fox

2001:A Space Odyssey, The Wizard of Oz

Anonymous

Princess Mononoke Arrietty

Victor Gimenez

"A Monster Calls" and "Big Fish"

Kaitlin

I’ll throw in a sixth, but it’s not a romance (unless it’s one’s romance with their work): Tick Tick Boom

Anonymous

It Follows and Exorcist 3

Yours truly, Johnny Dollar

Could not agree more. I recommended Short Cuts and Nashville before reading this. I hope if we could just get one in the poll we might be able to pull a Harold and Maude.

Anonymous

Being There (1979) Pleasantville (1998)

George Ray

Persona and once again recommending Only God Forgives.

Anonymous

Sam Peckinpah's 1969 classic The Wild Bunch. I was going to add Alex Cox's 1984 Repo Man, but I may defer to David Wayne's Space Odyssey. And, oh man, I see Luke's Being There. Well Wild Bunch number one, and any of the aforementioned three number two.

Brett Coster

Definitely The Duellists, one of Ridley Scott's best films, and his first!

Anonymous

The Searchers. (One of the best films of all time and one of those “Your favorite filmmakers favorite films”). Also you NEED to see ED WOOD.

Brett Coster

The Passion of Joan of Arc would be a fantastic film to react to, with so much emotion written on the actors' faces.

kbobravo

Eastern Promises and I Love You, Man

Brett Coster

1. Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (1928 by FW Murnau) One of the finest silent films, shot in Hollywood, original (and only) winner of the Best Picture, Unique and Artistic Production award. 2. M (1931sound film by Fritz Lang) The best early police procedural, with the main character you should hate but who still raises sympathy by the end of the movie.

Anonymous

You need to watch more weird movies! I'll vote for "The Turin Horse" and "Stranger Than Paradise."

Chelsea

Smokin' Aces (2006) Audrey Rose (1977)

Anonymous

I'm going to, once again, renew my suggestion of "In the Mood for Love". I know it's a foreign language romance movie and lacks a certain amount of thrill because of it, but it is cinematically gorgeous and has amazing performances. On the other hand, if you haven't seen "Unstoppable" (2010 starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pine) it has a great narrative, telling a story with a lot of technical details while at the same time succeeding as an action movie based on a true event. It's thrilling, well told, and for some reason often overlooked by people in general.

Robert Kruger

Tommy Boy Suspiria (2018)

Robert Kruger

Oh, I forgot. The Fisher King. It's Robin Williams and it's amazing.

Ken

In the Mood for Love so fucking good. James needs to see some Wong Kar Wai films

Anonymous

Das Boot (1981) I would love to see your reaction!

Dogville 2003

Anonymous

Primer (2004) and Apostle (2018) - I think you'd have an amazing reaction to both

ryan

Jarhead (2005) and All the President's Men (1976)

ryan

I would also love to throw in the original Bourne trilogy if you haven't already seen them

Anonymous

A Prophet (2009) by Jacques Audiard First Man (2018) by Damien Chazelle

Anonymous

How about another foreign language film? - Jagten (The Hunt) (2012) with Mads Mikkelson or go for a silent classic The General by Buster Keaton.

Anonymous

Evil (original title Ondskan) (2003) The Machinist (2004)

Lexi Knight

"First Blood" (1982; aka "Rambo: First Blood") just the first movie in the series, since the sequels are really a whole different genre. "The 13th Warrior", an overlooked classic, IMO.

Anonymous

Punishment Park. Paths of Glory

Anonymous

"Romeo is Bleeding" (1993) a great performance from Gary Oldman & "A Simple Plan" (1998) Billy Bob Thornton showing a different side to his artistry. Both are great stories with great cinematography.

Robert Kruger

Peter, He's already reacted to Jagten. He also, inadvertently, watched The Hunt with Betty Gilpin. Both reactions are special.

Kaitlin

I saw someone suggest Moneyball and I would just suggest High Flying Bird to be watched on your own time. It's a much better film about the business of sports that's constantly overlooked. André Holland and Melvin Gregg have a conversation in the film's opening that's some of my favorite writing ever, and Bill Duke has one of his best roles. Steven Soderbergh and Tarell Alvin McCraney crushed it.

Cameron Berry

I'd suggest Akira Kurosawa's The Bad Sleep Well so we can get a view of his non-Samurai film. Also, The Piano by Jane Campion for a beautiful, unique film.

Anonymous

Primal Fear and... Primal Fear? If I can't suggest the same film twice how about checking out some of Shin'ya Tsukamoto's work (possibly my favourite director and very, very unique). The obvious choice would be Tetsuo: The Iron Man (1989) but it's very acquired taste and potentially a tough watch, (I'd love to see anyone tackle this film), so instead I'll suggest Gemini (1999). Regarding the cat, I wouldn't mess with him if I were you, he looks handy.

Chickenelegs

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) Not animated The Mask of Zorro (1998)

Randall Keizer

Unforgiven - Clint Eastwood (1992)

Randall Keizer

Minority Report - Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise (2002)

Negatomix

Lord of War (2005)

Ken
