One fun fact about this movie, it was James Earl Jones's first movie role, as one of the copilots in the plane. I noticed him on my third time watching the movie, he is so young :) Also, Peter Sellers(The President, Group Captain Mandrake, Dr. Strangelove) was one amazing actor of his time, also famous for portraying Inspector Clouseau in The Pink Panther franchise. There is a Comedy biography movie about him "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers"

This was the first film-watching assignment in my Film & American Studies class in college. It ws a a few years before streaming, so I went to the main library on campus and checked out a laser disc. The librarian led me to a mezzanine floor that had two rows each of two televisions that were distanced from, and facing back-to-back, to each other. Every TV had a single comfy chair opposite its screen for focused viewing. The librarian handed me a pair of headphones connected to the TV and I put them on. Almost immediately, I'm fully locked in to 'Dr. Strangelove'. I'm loving the story + characters; the writing + performances. Peter Sellers as the vexed, nerdy US President is brilliantly risible, and George C Scott as the sexist general is so zany -- and yet it all works. Some time passes when I get two hard taps on the shoulder. Startled, I look up to see the librarian talking to me. After a beat I remove the headphones. 'Please stop laughing like that, ' she said 'You're disturbing the entire North wing.'
