Minority Report is so awesome. Spielberg Sci-Fi with Tom Cruise

Anonymous

Oh man. As a Dane I simply must vote for The Hunt. One of my favourite movies of all time.

Anonymous

Adaptation is a must-see for any filmmaker!

Jordan Porter

In regards to In the Mood for Love, we need a whole Wong Kar Wai poll! I recently picked up the new collection, and am blown away by all of his films

Nick Sneddon

Amelie is one of the greatest films you'll ever see, unfortunately it has subtitles so the majority of the American audience put it to one side as a consequence 👍🏻

H Blackwell

I've noticed Ghost Dog no longer appears on these lists. What up with that?

Anonymous

The two Popes is a great movie, has it's funny moments as well

We need to make Adaptation happen. Minority Report is cool and all but it’s a pretty standard action flick with nothing spectacular going on from a film-making perspective. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good...it’s just way more “Hollywood.” It always seems like the silent majority wins these polls and the people in the comments are passionate about the other films that ultimately end up losing. Reminds me of a presidential election.

Randall Bott

Adaptation is a must watch. It’s not Harold and Maude but it’s a great movie.

Anonymous

Gone for minority report not my favourite list. Ever considered classics like Deliverance, Apocalypse Now, Watership Down or Full Metal Jacket

Anonymous

fun fact, Tarantino started crying for no reason other than he was “just so happy to love a movie this much” watching Chungking Express

Anonymous

probably not winning again, but just a rec to anyone who’s a fan of films about yearning like Her, Portrait of a Lady on Fire or Lost in Translation, In the Mood for Love is right up there with the best

Anonymous

Meh, how about Kentucky Fried Movie?

Anonymous

Would be great if you'd give the 'The Fugitive' a chance, fantastic Action Thriller

Sonia Deepak

I really enjoyed Amelie, the film does whimsical really well. But In the Mood for Love is so beautiful to look at as well.

Anonymous

Adaptation is amazing.

Silence is a powerful movie. Fingers cossed.

Come on guys there’s better choices here than minority report!

Matt

Amelie is a good film along with all of Jean-Pierre Jeunet films, but my favorite is Delicatessen from 1991

Martin Nicholls

Death of Stalin and Minority Report are great choices. Weirdly I was talking to my dad today about that [DoS], didn't know he'd watched it out of my collection. If you liked that you should totally watch In The Loop, and frankly the TV series Succession...

Anonymous

Ugh Minority Report average at best Philip K Dick adaptation. Any Jean-Pierre Juenet film is highly recommended for a budding filmmaker.

kimsmk

did you watch many of these movies in the poll before and dislike them?

kimsmk

I've only seen his short film Foutaises but it was dank af.

Nick Parker

It is really good but I have to imagine it went under a lot of people radar

Nick Parker

Oh man, I am so happily surprised how well Death of Stalin is doing! Maybe one day we will get it across the finish line.

My vote was for "Death of Stalin". I was thinking that there are a few off the wall movies to consider; David Lynch's "Wild at Heart", "A Simple Plan", "Kalifornia" and "Miller's Crossing".

Juley

In terms of action movies, I’d rather see something less obvious than “Minority Report.” How about “The Long Kiss Goodnight”?

Jeremy Lindstrom

I’ve given up hope that “The Hunt” will ever be chosen but I will continue to vote for it until it is no longer on the list!

Anonymous

I'm dying, that The Handmaiden just keeps missing the mark week after week.

Anonymous

Are you kidding? It’s way better than average. The story isn’t the most accurate adaptation of the novel but it’s still great

Marvelous Dolcy

Minority report is a great movie. Of course its going to win. Unfair that its pitted up against in the mood for love which is a master in filmmaking or The King of Comedy which is one of Scorsese s underated gems

Anonymous

In the Mood for Love is such a beautiful film, but I’m not sure it’s the best film to react to, just due to the pacing. Criterion Collection just released Irma Vep with Maggie Cheung and I think James would love that film.

Anonymous

hey now, we’re just tryna have a group cry with James

Brett Coster

My preference is for 1. Death of Stalin (a very funny but dark film), 2. Amelie (a very funny but French film) and 3. The Handmaiden (a very sexy Korean film).

Randall Keizer

Please add Unforgiven, Dances with Wolves, and Gravity

Yours truly, Johnny Dollar

I am just going to keep posting this every week here until it happens. Please give Robert Altman a chance... or Suspiria 1977. Not that they have anything to do with each other.

Silence is a ridiculously powerful film.
