Here were the Nominees for Best Actor at the 87th Academy Awards: Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) - Winner Michael Keaton - (Birdman) Benedict Cumberbatch - ( The Imitation Game) Bradley Cooper - (American Sniper) Steve Carell - (Foxcatcher) Keaton’s performance is on a whole other level than ANY of these other performances. Ten years from now, which performance and film do you think people would still remember? IMO Redmayne only won because he was playing Steven Hawking and the Academy jizzes their pants over biopics for some reason. Not saying his performance was bad but Keaton is at his absolute best in this film and it is a damn shame he did not get the Oscar for this performance. His character has so much more depth and his emotions and anxiety feel so authentic.l and really suck you in to the whole atmosphere and themes of the film. All Eddie Redmayne had to do is kind of look like Steven Hawking and again imo there are plenty of actors you could put in that role and the performance would come across exactly the same. NO ONE else could have played this role in Birdman besides Keaton. Sorry for my rant. I’m done now lol. Great reaction BTW James.

Amazing movie. Also has a few great long take sequences. DiCaprio finally won his Oscar for this movie but honestly, he has had much better performances. I would have given him the Oscar for The Departed, The Aviator, Wolf of Wall Street, and maybe even Catch Me if You Can over The Revenant. Or if you want to throw it way back What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. He just didn’t have much to work with in the script as he is basically alone and just trying to survive throughout the movie. Not a whole lot of character to chew on. Tom Hardy completely steals the show in terms of acting in The Revenant for me. Might need the subtitles to understand some of his dialogue but damn he was just so in character throughout the whole movie. He disappears into the role, whereas for me DiCaprio kind of had me feeling like I was watching DiCaprio doing a bunch of crazy stuff and not really his character.

Your not alone in thinking that bro, Keaton should have won that year
