Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. You won’t regret it!

George Ray

Only God Forgives. It’s got your boy Gosling and directed by Refn who also did Drive.

Anonymous

Still pulling for Call Me By Your Name. I'd also like to see you react to The Graduate (1967 -- young Dustin Hoffman with Anne Bancroft), or Shallow Grave (1994 -- early Ewan McGregor).

Anonymous

YES. This movie is arguably the best western ever made. Redford and Newman are awesome in it

The Ghost Writer (2010). Roman Polanski film with Ewan Mcgregor and Pierce Brosnan. Very underrated and unknown thriller

Anonymous

IDK if there will be much of an audience for this, and without spoiling the gimmick, but the camerawork along with the rhythm & storytelling of Ron Fricke's Samsara (2011) was phenomenal to take in.

Superpotroast

Mad Max Fury Road is one of my favorite action movies and you don't really need to have seen the other ones either..

Map of the Human Heart (1992)

Tinker, Tailor, soldier, Spy.

You should watch Terrence Malick's first five films chronologically - all influential and increasingly experimental - so my suggestion is Badlands (1973)

Anonymous

Once upon a time in the west is a must-see for any filmmaker!

Anonymous

Here's one most people have NOT seen...The SUNSET LIMITED with Tommy Lee Jones and Samuel L. Jackson. Some of the best dialogue you'll ever have the privilege to revel in. From a play by Cormac McCarthy ( NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN). The two actors joust and parry their way throughout the film all the way until the devastating final monologue.

Cifer

The Men Who Stare At Goats

Anonymous

Do you watch Foreign Language films? This film is in French. Staring Ron Perlman. English title is City of Lost Children. Very beautiful movie written by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, who also wrote Delicatessen and Amelie.

Dirty Pretty Things (2002) like Gattaca, it’s a thriller with a love story, the writing is top notch and Chiwetel is absolutely amazing in this. Also like Gattaca it is criminally overlooked.

Dustin Bruce

I've asked James about this one and he's seen it already, so it wouldn't be picked for first time reactions which I believe are the only ones we get to vote on. Maybe he'll do a re-watch reaction though one day.

Dustin Bruce

Blood Simple, the debut film by Joel and Ethan Coen

Dustin Bruce

I wanna say hell yes but if he's watching on a laptop or something that's absolutely no way to watch it.

I was sad that this didn’t get many votes in a previous poll, and then he took it off the next. It must be seen!!

Survive style 5+, the craziest and trippiest Japanese what the fuck that I’ve ever seen! It’s on YouTube here - https://youtu.be/uLx7-jrji9o

Anonymous

Clue! It's hilarious.

Anonymous

It was also a remake of a Hong Kong film. Scorsese said it was the first film of his that actually had a script

Anonymous

Definitely. One of the best films of the 70’s. Won so many Oscars

Anonymous

I have a few in mind ... the first one is very hard to find and you may have to buy it on DVD in order to watch it ... Pump Up The Volume (1990) starring Christian Slater as a high school kid who moonlights as a pirate radio DJ named Happy Harry Hardon. This is a tour de force performance and is the one film that Slater has said he would choose if his career had to be defined by a single movie. If you like Alan J Pakula, he did All The President's Men and The Pelican Brief. For Ridley Scott, there are 3: Legend (1986) starring Tom Cruise, Black Rain (1988), and The Duellists -- this is Ridley Scott's first film ever, even before Alien (which was his 2nd) and Blade Runner (his 3rd film) Like John Woo, try on The Killer or Hard Boiled .. the latter is a bullet ballet of gunfire

Anonymous

Downfall, it's a really gripping and interesting take on the final days of WW2 told from the German perspective, and as dull as it sounds, the director has created a true work of genius, the only hitch is that it's in German (subtitle movie). If subtitle movies aren't your thing then I'd recommend something a little more upbeat with Hot Fuzz, the editing in that is on another level and it's just an all round solid movie in my opinion.

Anonymous

Downfall, Das Boot

Anonymous

The girl with the dragon tattoo. (Swedish version ONLY!!!)

Anonymous

Annihilation is honestly one of my all time favorite sci fi movies. I only put Alien above it (which is technically a horror movie wrapped in a sci fi package)
