Prompt: A man participates in a cosmetic trial using pufferfish DNA. It works a little too well.

“Thank you again for volunteering,” the woman said, barely looking at Joshua as she wrote down on her clipboard. When you feel that you are ready, you may begin.”

Joshua picked up the small sticker on the table and held it up to his face. Adjusting his glasses to get a better look, he saw a cartoonish image of a pufferfish printed across the paper. Scratching his head of brown hair as he tried to think how this would work, he shrugged and placed the sticker on his cheek.

His blue eyes went wide as he felt the sticker dissolves into his skin. The loss of the experimental prototype became a secondary worry as his cheeks began to puff up alongside his lips. The researchers nodded their heads as they watched Joshua’s face continue to swell up. They only began to disapprove upon seeing his eyes become more bulbous and his nose change to make his face better resemble a fish.

Joshua let out a series of puffed up moans as the swelling spread to his upper body. In exchange for giving him a pair of bloated breasts and a spherical torso, the fish DNA pumping through his veins was more than happy to take away his arms. Stumbling about on his two legs, bouncing his newly grown spikes against the walls, Joshua hoped that there was a cure or at least a sizable compensation waiting for him at the end of the trial.
