Extended Private Journal v. 3.1.1 (Patreon)

Another adopted mod. This mod was originally developed by ShuSanR. I took his idea after he announced in February 2022 that he would stop modding and playing the Sims 4 entirely. I updated the mod to the latest game version, slightly improved the design and added some new features. The mod's code was completely rewritten from scratch.

Children can also develop the Logic skill. I have adjusted the logic skill interaction on the journal so that they can now also improve their logic skill with the journal, but only if their mental skill is at least level 5. The interaction icon also changes when your children are ready.

• Some strings have been replaced to avoid empty lines if users only have the base game.
• The autonomy for journal interactions has been slightly reduced.
• Added new animation when writing while standing or sitting (EP12 required).
• New interaction: Write Wish in the journal - with buffs (EP10 required).

The Research & Debate skill has been added to the skills that can be developed with the Private Journal. The interaction icons for skill interactions have been adjusted for children, so that when children want to use these interactions, the pie menu shows correct icons for the corresponding child skills and not for the adult skills.

New Mod Features

The following has been changed or updated in this version:

• Above all, the mod has been adapted to the latest game version, so that all features introduced since Werewolfpack are now also taken into account.
• All Write in Journal interaction labels have been changed. The reason for this is that I replaced all custom strings with strings that already exist in the game. This means that the mod no longer needs to be translated and is immediately available in all languages!
• The Write in Journal interactions have been provided with nice icons from the GP05 according to the life skills involved.
• The Write in Journal interactions are now also available for adults and not only for children and teens. However, adults do not gain incremental Life Skills from this, because these skills are acquired prior to adulthood.
• Three additional interactions with the journal are also available to all Sims (Child to Elder): Practice Writing, Write Jokes, and Solve Math Problems. These interactions lead to the development of Writing, Comedy, an Logic skills accordingly. I can also imagine expanding these interactions later with other skills.
• I made the writing interactions autonomous. Please let me know if autonomy results in very frequent interactions.

New Mod Requirements

Please note the new requirements for the mod:

• Lot51 Core Library from Lot51 is required for full functionality!

The XML Injector from Scumbumbo is no longer required for this mod!

✒️ Mod Description

With this mod you get three new interaction groups with the diary journal:

• Skills (affecting skill development, four skills at the moment).
• Positive Emotions (influencing the development of all positive life skills).
• Negative Emotions (influencing the development of all positive life skills).
• Write Wish (with various buffs, EP10 required).

I deliberately included only the three skill interactions (practice writing, writing jokes, and solving math problems) and not all skills because I don't see this mod primarily as a skill development mod. A few skills might be added in the future, but I'm definitely not doing interactions like "Practice XY Skill" for all skills. This is boring.

The new Life Skills interactions can influence your Sim (Child or Teen) to positively or negatively develop Life Skills (Responsibility, Manners, Empathy, Conflict Resolution, Emotional Control). These interactions are also unlocked for adult Sims, but no longer affect life skill development. However, the adult Sims can receive certain buffs and emotions. This can also be used for story telling. The menu names are subject to change and are not the same for children and adults.

This mod only uses strings from the game, so it's automatically available in all languages.

⚠️ Required Terms

• Sims 4 Parenthood Game Pack (GP05) is of course required!
• The Lot 51 Core Library Script is required!

You have to allow the scripts in your game settings.

• Back up your current save files just in case!
• Download the zip archive and extract all files to your Mods folder (how)!
• Delete the game cache files (how)!
