Amidst the swirling foam and blue depths of the sea, emerged Venus, radiant and ethereal.  Born of the union between sky and ocean, she is the goddess of love and beauty.  🌹

February is the month of love, so how could I resist drawing Aphrodite/Venus, the goddess of love, herself!? 😍✨ This one was really fun to figure out the framing with the wave splashing out from the bottom of the frame.

In the myth, she was born from the sea foam that formed when the Titan Cronus (Saturn in Roman myth) castrated his father (brutal, dude!), Uranus and threw his genitals into the sea. 🌊 As the goods mingled with the seafoam, a beautiful and fully grown goddess emerged from the waves. 🌊 She was carried to the shore on a scallop shell. 🐚

Anyway, she is always a fun one to draw and re-imagine. Did you know that Aphrodite was the first goddess I drew? She is what started this whole goddess and mythology drawing kick that I've been on for a couple years now! Wild! 🎨✨

In other news, I wanted to give you guys a heads up that I am going to be traveling for a couple of days starting tomorrow! I'll be visiting Portugal for the first time and will be there until the 14th! I'll check my messages and everything when I can, but I might not be as quick as usual! ✈️
