Here is the second tutorial with where I would start to begin acclimating with drawing backgrounds in a less overwhelming way!

This tutorial is digital art specific and I'm working in Clip Studio paint but I think there are still some nuggets in here that you could apply to other software as well and you could still do this exercise and principals to traditional.

Thanks Chrissa! Another fun video to watch! I always find it amazing to hear your process. Not being an artist makes it interesting to see everything that you think about when painting! A couple of comments tho: 1 - I can't believe that your hubby would ever yell at you! haha 2 - Nooo, I doubt you would ever balance your tea like that. and 3 - please tell Chrissa-Elf not to drink out of the chipped cup... and not to blame the chip on the cats! ;-)

Dear lord... please explain how to use the perspective ruler > n<) I´ve trried using it but Im lost. I´d be cool to add this in the poll for tutorials.
