 Hello friends!
The fact that July is nearly over kind of kills me a little bit.  Where does the time go?  I hope your summer is going well!

Important:

A little bit of vulnerability incoming.
If you aren't interested in reading personal feelings stuff, feel free to go ahead and skip to the summary below.

I mentioned it a bit in my previous post, but I had a small internal art crisis this month.... well maybe all summer... but I felt it hard in the middle of this month.  I was hit with feelings of "what is the point?" and just an overall dissatisfaction with where I'm at with both my art and my art as a business.

I know I'm not alone in feeling like this from time to time.  I mean, I just published the big article on pulling yourself out of a creative slump!  These feelings are a common thing that we all have to deal with sometimes.

Since I have come to expect these waves, especially in the summer, I have started noticing patterns and a positive way to look at them.  Often when these feelings come, I have a little bit of a panic and I scramble to try and "fix" things.  I don't know if this is entirely healthy but it does usually mean that I make some progress in my artwork and produce a bit more then usual.  So that's good!

My purpose in sharing this is not at all to invoke any sort of pity.  I just to let you guys know a little bit more about what's going on behind the artwork, and also let you know that you aren't alone if you feel similar things.  Because feeling down about things is normal and it really can have a positive outcome if you keep going.

Anyhoo, I don't know if that made much sense, but I am wishing you all the positive vibes!  Let's get to the reward summary!

I think its awesome you shared what you're going through especially since a lot of artists go through those tough spots. Maybe draw something you normally dont draw? Here lately i started drawing fruit. Sounds silly but its kinda helped me get back into drawing. I felt really down about my work as well and figured maybe playing a game would help distract my feelings but it didnt. I hope maybe you start to feel better & find something that helps.

Thank you for sharing these feelings, it really helps to put things in perspective when you see you're not alone in this situation! Everything always looks so good on Instagram and Twitch that it is hard to imagine that people who have success in their activities also struggle with problems! But nothing ever comes easy! It gave me a bit of strenght to go on with my own endeavors! I also liked seeing your old posts on Instagram about starting your artistic journey and how you had to work it all through like everyone else! It feels motivating to see the progress, although at the time the progress was surely not noticeable! It feels great to see that our efforts sometimes bear fruit! I really like your art and you inspire me as a person, so keep up the good work!

Hey thanks! I have started feeling a bit better. Changing things up like you suggest is a really great way to get out of an art funk.

Yeah, most people don't put out the full story of what is going on behind the scenes. Most of social media is a highlight reel and it always looks so glamourous. haha. Omigoodness, I'm glad you find the old posts motivating. I leave them up because when I look through other artist's profiles, I think it is fun to see how their style changes and grows. It's always a little sad when an artist I like archives all their old stuff. Thank you so much for your kind words and insightful comments!! You guys inspire me all the time!
