✨New Art//Lady of Forest Springs {nsfw warning on some images} (Patreon)

On occasions when the realm of mundane and spirit draw close, you may glimpse a flash of red through the forest mists. For in the forest dwells the lady of the woodland springs, leaving her blessings on the wild waters...

Well hello lovelies! My focus for this piece was all about color at atmosphere. I wanted to play with using very desaturated gray tones, mixed with orange and red tones to get a kind of misty soft vibe.

Relative color is so fascinating. The base color of her skin is light gray if you can believe it, and all of the "green" in her outfit and leaves are also mostly gray. But thanks to her bright red hair and the orange in her nose, cheeks and lips, the gray skin tone reads as just a pale skin color (although somewhat eerily pale), and the cloak and leaves read as desaturated green.

I wouldn't say I am an expert at using relative color BUT, the more I do pieces like this where I am very intentionally trying to work with it, the more familiar and natural it comes to me. practice practice practice!
