Modding Diary - A Quick Update (Patreon)
Content
Hi all! I hope you guys had a wonderful holidays! 😊
As for me, I took a few days off during Christmas and new years to unwind, and I have gotten back to modding again this week. I am currently learning python again for the ???th time, and I'm of course struggling again as usual 🫥
Some of you might know that most of the modding that we do is written in XML, and occasionally python is needed when you want to do things in a certain way. To me XML is alot easier to understand than python, when I first started modding I literally spent 3 days looking at all the different XML files in game even though they all looked like nonsense to me at first, but with the help of tutorials I was able to start understanding it and soon I was able to make my own mod.
sims4 python on the other hand....is so incredibly confusing to me, and there are very limited tutorials, so all I can do is compare different python scripts and try to make sense of it all, needless to say it is a slow and painful progress.
I feel like being able to write my own script would open up a world of new possibilities. I will be able to make the NICU update that many of you have been asking (it can be done without python but its not ideal), I will finally be able to fix the glitch where the baby skin doesn't match the parents' during the birth animation, and many other things that I have never even dreamed of.
So that's where I am at this week, struggling but somewhat optimistic. Im going to continuing my learning and I will let you know how it is going next Friday.
In the meantime, what are some things you would like me to work on? Some of the bigger suggestions I have received are:
- NICU update, including postpartum hospital stays
- Midwife/OBGYN active career
- Home Birth animations for multiples
- More Birth Positions
- More toddler/infant/children toys
- More pregnancy related interactions (ice chips, feet massage, IVF, etc)
Please let me know what you think in the comments!
