Hello everyone!

I really don't want to make "debunking" videos. I don't like watching that kind of content, and I don't like making it.

But it is literally impossible for me to make a video, or really any post on social media, without somebody coming along and saying "You idiot! America is too big for [bike lanes/walkable neighbourhoods/trains/anything nice]".

So here it is, the video I've resisted making for too long: The Dumbest Excuse for Bad Cities.

I have no interest in making “debunking” videos, but there’s one lame excuse that is so common, so prevalent, so ubiquitous, that I was literally forced to make this video. It's true: I had no other choice. My hands were drawn to the keyboard to write this script like they were possessed by the ghosts of people killed by cars. Another great video but as an American long-time viewer, who doesn’t live in a car-dependent area, I was wondering if you had any plans to make videos discussing the differences between cities and towns in the US that are highly walkable/bikeable, with good public transit (by our standards) and cities in the Netherlands? I was specifically thinking cities like Washington DC, NYC, Chicago, Boston, etc. and their metro areas. I realize that the majority of Americans live in the types of “cities” that are the focus of your videos but I think there are actually more Americans living in walkable cities than there are people in the Netherlands all together, so for those of us born and raised in these environments I think it would be nice to have a granular comparison. I lived in Seoul for 2 years and some things were better than my city, some things were worse but it was hard to articulate

No, I'm not going to do any features on US cities. I'm going to leave those topics to the (manh) American creators out there. I will be going to Montréal in August though.

Love how you also seem fed up with overly pedantic people who are everywhere today. "WELL ACKSCHUALLY you would encounter borders because America is divided into states and smaller jurisdictions and the boundaries between them can be called borders so you would encounter borders all the time here's the exact minimum and maximum number of borders you would cross going from one side of the continent to the other, i am very smart"

"also you cant drive to iceland because it is an island and does not have road or bridge connection, also [long dissertation about other islands you can't drive to in Europe] i bet you didnt know that so this video is dumb"

Fun fact – if you're willing to take your car on the Smyril Line ferry from Denmark, you can totally drive to Iceland.
