Hey patrons!

I recently got this possible figure called "Body Chan" by SH Figuarts. I'll be using this to help me set the poses for future character design and doodle. I have been playing with it, taking photos and directly drawing on top.

So far awesome!

I have those old Wooden Mannequins. This one is a bit more expensive but is there like any major differences? I read it's 30 points but i dont know what that specifically means xD

These are way more posable. The wooden ones are no where near as good. :)

Btw, this is mainly for creating cool art by trying something new and experimenting with it.. Some people I've known in the past are against using photo bashing or copying and flipping to mirror parts of drawings or reusing old artworks, or even using photo reference. I understand where you're coming from. But understand that's the nature of using the tools available to create art and it is the way the industry works now that I've been in it for so long. It's not really about doing everything from scratch anymore or being pure about it. But rather more about being efficient and delivering the quality quickly. Yes there's a line to stay away from which is directly copying or painting on top of someone else's work. There are artists that are multi skilled in 2D and 3D. Using a zbrush sculpture of theirs to Set up a scene to paint over on top. Which is now a standard way of creating art now days. This is pretty much the same thing. I want to demonstrate what's possible with these posable figures and how it can help you learn and achieve efficient process. I merely got this for me to experiment with and also learn from as well. Hope you understand.

Completely agree with everything you said there. Great art has never truly been from scratch and always requires an extensive amount of detail, effort and research. Even when studying anatomy, we cannot be anywhere near efficient on it without studying or referencing how the human body works in pose or motion. Thats why there's countless sources/websites filled with images or drawings of the anatomy to study from. Mannequins like these are very helpful because you can pose them to any stance you want them to be without having to constantly reference/search a specific pose you're going for. I'm surprised people shame these tools/techniques even they don't entirely know what goes into the process of working as an artist for a company feels like. I'm not sure if it comes with a stand for various poses but i think this is a really great tool/investment to help you out and i'm glad you found it useful. I hope this helps improve your artwork significantly in the upcoming months!!! =)

Oh man. I've been really thinking of getting one of these!

I am not saying there is anything wrong with using reference tools for faster development (Heck, if it was wrong then digital art is just a scam ) . But value of an art piece was included "how it was made" too, not just the final product. There away be a number of guys who want the visual come straight from artist's mind rather than have it depend on outside mental support. You should make a pool for patron's opinion about this (to know the mass preference), or at least included description for what tools you used to create each piece.

Zeronis

Of course! It will be 100% video recorded. You won't get a "tada! done" without the value of "How it was made." The point of this is to show you the process. I assure you, I come with the pose using the mannequin straight out of my mind. It doesn't come pre-posed out of the box so I don't see how this is an outside support. But yes, I'll for sure state it in the description.

I definitely need to get one of these, sometimes coming up with a dynamic pose and applying it to a page can be so difficult! I hope you get as much inspiration out of using it as I get out of seeing your art :)
