I've worked on this for a long time. Maybe 30 mins to an hour each day. It's very difficult to find the time to commit to one piece to render beautifully. I still want to work longer on this but the time is the true enemy. 

I wonder if you guys would be ok with me revisiting this on February to finish rendering and share this WIP. 

The background was a challenge for me. I haven't done many backgrounds for characters as I'm more of a professional character designer than an illustrator. I've tried many different versions but in the end, this direction felt the strongest due to the nice contrast, simplicity and adding the cold magical tone. I want to spent the next phase polishing and adding more subtle interest and magic to the piece. 

As for the character, I do wish that I had spent more time on the pose and the sketch as that's the foundation for the illustration. Next time, I'll spend more focus on the structure of the composition. So far, I'm happy with the rendering. Getting rid of the line art and painting the edges nice and sharp, complimenting some of the soft edges gave more depth. I used a lot of hard brushes to grasp the sharp edge and massage the ends with the smudge brush to give that clean blend. 

This is fully recorded, so it will show the entire process from start to the end.
