Why my Patreon changed back then (Patreon)

I explained the reasons for the decrease in content per batch few years ago. But I wanted to share the reasons again for clarity and context. 

First reason is that I'm a Senior Concept Artist at a major game studio meaning the professional work requires much energy and attention. I love working at my professional job but equally, I love to create my own personal work, and fan art on the side while worrying less about my financial pressure. 

Second reason is to hopefully allow for more time to create more quality drawings with the professional and personal life balance in mind. I can pump out a lot and try to make the quality as high as possible. But it's not sustainable, and I could risk losing the passion, energy, affecting my professional job, and eventually affecting my well being. 

If Patreon support is super strong, I may consider going full time Patreon Creator and possibly increasing the number of outputs as well. However, as I learned over the years, Patreon is a bit spontaneous and unpredictable as my total support has decreased by a lot. Many of patrons pledged for NSFW content and only pledged for the art, not necessarily to support the artist in the long run. 

I truly appreciate all the patrons that have pledged me since the start of it. Especially to those that have stayed with me for so long. Seriously, I couldn't have been able to create these artworks without your strong support. Whether, this will continue on for years or months, I'm glad to have created those artworks with your help!

Hello Z! I respected your move to SFW back then (even if it made me sad...) and appreciate your asking our opinion! I might propose bringing back NSFW, but mebbe that may be a pole everyone or vote or something you as an artist no longer wish to do. Perhaps make a $2 Tier for it? I certainly appreciate your art no matter and will continue to support your work as long as I have a steady income also! Please keep up the great work and know you’ve got at least this fan in it for the long haul!

Looking back at my NSFW content. I think I could have done that better as well. Like do it for the sake of quality and learning anatomy as well. I may consider bringing that back but nothing super kinky. Maybe start at $3 Tier? I don't know how closing a Tier and creating a Tier works. Thanks for the comment!

DO NOT GO FULL TIME PATREON lol. I mean it can be fun being a "freelance" artist because you always have to option for personal projects and if you need the backing you can always do stuff like kickstarter . BUTTTTTTT youre the best concept artist for Riot and your blade queen lissandra concept art was literally what kickstarted my passion for art I would be so sad to see you leave riot especially for something as unstable as Patreon ( or so in my opinion ) :T Edit: I mean I would love to see you do your personal projects like mekanizer , deathverse, and youre new one but , and this is just my opinion, I fear that patreon might not always be as strong as it is today ? All I hope is that deathverse some day becomes a story :D but I can wait! I love to see your work here and tbh I don't want you to go full time patreon as long as you like your job because you are my favorite art designer at this game company. All the designs you created there are my favorites and I loved nearly 100% at first sight. But in the end please do what you love because I think if an artist is not happy with his work you can see it in the pictures. Stay awesome!

You're right on the unpredictable nature of Patreon, and I think you have the right vision about it. I decided to support yours because of your incredible art style (of course 😁), and because you're developing your own universe. Which is a major aspect. Fan art is great, but original art is way more interesting, even though it attracts people at a slower pace. The bottom line : keep doing what you do, as cleverly as you do, because you're doing great. 😁

I feel the same way about Patreon and my patrons. I love them all, but most of them support for the NSFW art and not actual support. some do, and its really awesome that people are willing to do so, even if it is just for the NSFW art, its still incredibly helpful. my patronage tends to bounce around a lot, I'll lose a patron, then gain one to replace them, so on and so on. I dont have a good career, or any career outside of commissions and patreon really, which isn't great since im an adult. but its nice working on what i love doing, and make sure to have a monthly quote that increases based on pledge amounts. Hope all goes well for you and all the other artists like us here on patreon c:

I always will support my favorite artists! I have and always will support you no matter what you chose to do. I love your professional work that you do, expecially for league of legends. If anything for you're patreon I think doing one or two fan suggestions would be useful to get some more interaction with the ones who support you which I think is very important in this kind of platform.

I support you because I love your at direction, your style and presentation. You are an artist I aspire to be like or even replicate (I'm a 3D artist). Just be careful, I think even if you have a strong support, but you only create the same things, you will get bored, and it will affect your passion, and as a result your quality might go down. Perhaps venture out into something you have interest in, teaching? (I'd love for you to teach me stylised anatomy, facial construction/features, general art, colour theory, composition, presentation, etc), or comics? Or even freelance? so long as you can keep you spirit and work ethics up, I will continuously support you because I love what you make. P.s. I like your SFW stuff, they are always more interesting, as an aspiring artists, I try to reconstruct, learn and understand then, as a result, I appreciate them more than NSFW

Maybe I am alone in this way of thinking, but I'd love to see a collection of the ugly, rough, unrefined sketches. The first "ideals" just roughly spilled onto canvas before any consideration of presentation or form or any of those complex bits that get worked on before deciding on a final pose and figure. I found those kinds of sketches to be very helpful in understanding how to put things together. I am just a new patron and amateur artist though and maybe sharing such things is unappealing to the majority of your patrons.

As a fellow artist, trying to make it on his own revenue, i can relate to the issue of fans supporting just to collect NSFW art, and not looking to support the artist in the long run. Thus inspiring them to create bigger/better bodies of work. Instead, they just create a cheaper product. For Fans of ZERONIS, i will say this... there is alot more value in fostering/supporting an artist work overtime, then getting a snapshot of his worth. Seeing the forsest for the trees and all that! Just some food for thought. Goodluck mate.

Newcomer here. I'm glad that Patreon is a thing. It's easier to give support to artists. You already give a lot of your time and energy in your full-time job, you deserve to engage in things you love. Whether it is SFW or NSFW artwork you make, you're sure to gain support, so just do what you think that will make you happy. Personally, I don't think that your NSFW pieces are that lewd, unless the girls are engaging in some sort of sexually activity. If it's just a girl wearing breastless/crotchless clothing with nipple piercings and a really cool looking weapon, I just think to my self — "The girl must be living in a world where it is normal for girls to wear clothes that expose privates; it must be their style or fashion in that universe". The revealing clothes your OCs wear give off this fantasy vibe and I like it. Do what you love and what you think that will help you improve. If it's just SFW pieces you want to create, so be it. We're here to offer support. I wish you more success in your endeavors.

I'm glad you have supporters who are here to support you and your work. Whether or not they're SFW or NSFW. I'm just glad that you're making great content and doing what you love. I came here originally because of the art style and the art presented. I'm glad to typed this up. Speaking your mind is pat of what makes you a great artist.I appreciate all that you've done.And wish for nothing but the best.
