KJ = King's Journal

It's October 6th. This means it is German-American Day in the USA to commemorate the cultural heritage of German immigrants in North-America.

So I drew Bigby Wolf, who is a German-American to celebrate this day a bit.
I hope you gonna like this artwork and maybe you will be able to identify all three silhouettes in the smoke, which are humble references to fairy-tales.
Here is a little help:

W_ _ _ S

If you guessed the solutions, tell me in the comments.

For your next Artpacks I will create a messy version of this artwork as a little patron-exclusive extra.

And if you should be interested in my thoughts about the German-American Day, you could continue reading the journal or just stop here and stare at Bigby's big Wurst.  ;3

Well, since I am not American I can not tell, if the holiday is a big deal in USA, but as a German I think it is nice,  that there is a holiday abroad to honour German heritage in America.

Now let's have a look at some examples of German heritage in the USA.

In cuisine German Bratwurst im Brötchen evolved to American hotdog.

And German Frikadelle im Brötchen evolved to American hamburger.

In folklore the Headless Horseman came with the German settlers together with the German fairy-tales, which are, thanks to Walt Disney, known all across the world.

Walt Disney also travelled Germany and took inspiration from Neuschwanstein Castle to create Sleeping Beauty's Castle in the movie and the amusement parks.

There are also German words in modern English. For example Doppelganger and Poltergeist.

And what would christmas be without a christmas tree?! This German tradition might be the most popular German influence all around the world.

Well, after these examples I would like to show two maps of the United States, that show the German ancestry among people.

Or this map with lots of "German".

Fun fact: You meet a German family in Red Dead Redemption 2 and they are among the very few people in this game who are kind. They gave Arthur a gold bar to show their gratitude. And Arthur meets them again later in the game.

Well, and another fun fact:
I typed in my family in one of those ancestry websites.

The website showed me, that the most people in the world with the same family name live in the USA. I am aware that I am not related to all of them, but maybe there are some potential relatives. I think that's exciting.
Furthermore the website also revealed that after the USA I might have dozens of potential relatives in Brazil. That was a surprise.

Maybe you are a German-American? And you could tell me, if the holiday is famous or not in the USA.
Or you are no German-American and you had no clue about this holiday.

Anyway. I think I will draw an artwork for October 6th again next year.
Maybe with Bigby again. I just can't resist drawing a big sausage (German: Wurst).  ;3

Thank you for reading! <3
