Do you remember the Kings Journal about Anime?! I showed a collection of animated shows I watched as a kid and today I have a (retro) look into the west.

The western shows I grew up with aren´ t aired anymore and I guess it depends on todays parents and fans if these older shows are kept alive.
In my childhood many animated shows had much more courage to be violent and dark and they weren´ t made for kids only. I think a good cartoon has no age limitation, because good stories aren´ t bound to age or gender. BUT there were also those shows that tried to teach you something about good behaviour like "He-Man" or "Bravestarr" - although the main characters kicked lots of butts and punched many people each episode. XD "Don´ t beat people" *punches into your face while speaking* XD

Below I add a list of openings of some shows I watched. Then I gonna tell you some short thoughts or memories about a few of them.
Note: First I thought to add the orignal english openings, but in my childhood I watched the german ones so to be authentic - here are the german ones:

Now a short look at some shows:

I watched many Disney shows, that were aired. One of my favourites is "TaleSpin" - "Käpt´ n Balu" (Captain Baloo) in german. There were pilotes, planes, sky pirates, monsters - just many adventures and the cool city Cape Suzette. The main character Baloo who takes (fatherly) care of a young boy (a former sky pirate) and his ambitious boss Rebecca Cunningham (a single parent) shows also a modern picture of family and roles I realize today as an adult.

Batman! One of the shows I loved as a boy and love as a grown up man. Batman was dark, mature and fascinating. He had no super powers and every character seemed to be more or less insane. No one was perfect there. I also had a SNES Batman game.
Actually I think Batman deserves his own Kings Journal. ^^,

Gargoyles - I love them. Like Batman this show is dark and mature. The story about Gargoyles who awake after a 1000 year slumber in modern New York is full of challenges, new friends, enemies from the past and present and combines fantasy elements with reality.

Avatar - The last airbender.
Well...- I wasn´ t a boy when I watched this show and it was produced much later than the 1990s... But this show is one of the best animated ones in my opinion. Especially in a time, where many animated shows have awkward (ugly) art styles or are made without any passion.
It also combines anime and western style with an exciting story and great character development.

That´ s it. ^^
Did you enjoy this excursion to the past?
Did you watch some of the shows yourself?
Tell me in the comments or you can also add a link for an opening in your language, if you like.
