I think Bay has previously been established as a 49ers fan, but I don't remember either of them showing interest in the Kansas City Chiefs before. Admittedly, there might be a post or comic page I've forgotten about. I'm not sure they really need to have one of them change - they can do both in the case of a 49ers win, but they need to figure out what they'll do for their bet if the Chiefs win.
