Lots of nostalgia here. Just running through the neighborhood without a care in the world, on any other day of the year, they'd call us hoodlums, but on july 4th, it was freedom. All day you'd be carrying around that bic lighter you found in the parking lot of the nearest bar, in December, and that you'd been saving all year just for this day. When it got dark, you'd go "responsibly" light light fireworks with drunk parents, sniping a few packs of bottlerockets and firecrackers, then playing "night games" when parents are done, but then actually sneaking away and lighting our "acquired" goodies off far away from home with that precious yellow bic lighter with the guard removed. Holy hell did your thumb hurt from flicking it so many times and how hot it was.

I’m just happy that nobody was allegedly hurt during this event which may or may not have happened. Edit: seriously hurt due to this reckless action which might have happened, but we will probably never know for certain. 🎆🎇☠️
