That's a Wrap: July 2023 (Patreon)

Here's a recap of what we did last month!

July began with less Cinema Therapy because we'd just finished a shoot in June and we took time off for family reunions. It was fun. It was exhausting. But mostly fun!

We also dealt with a downside of being a creator on YouTube. Content ID and copyright claims delayed the Superman episode we planned for early July, and it took until the last day of July to be able to post it. Patrons got the director’s cut on time because we have more freedom over our content on Patreon. We love our Patrons! Hope y’all enjoyed the Superman episode.

Throughout July, we’ve been prepping episodes for our next shoot in September. At this stage, we've picked which movies we want to talk about and now we’re watching movies and noting scenes and themes we want to cover. Superheroes got to pick an episode, and they voted V for Vendetta! And you bet it's coming out in November. Can you guess one of the other episodes we’re prepping? Hint: 🪦👰

We also started planning our Patreon refresh and one-year anniversary celebration! Can you believe September will be one year of Cinema Therapy on Patreon? Thanks to everyone who filled out our community survey back in June. Your feedback is informing us on changes we’re making to improve our Patreon. And we’ll be running a promo during our anniversary if you haven’t joined the Patreon bandwagon yet.

Here's a sneak peek of what's coming next!

In August, we’re ramping up episode prep as we get closer to our next shoot. We’re still watching movies and taking notes, but we’re also coordinating with guests and starting to plan shoot week.

The New York Times asked to write a piece on us!?! We’re still freaking out about it. It just came out today and will be in print tomorrow, 8/2. PRINT! https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/01/movies/cinema-therapy-barbie-oppenheimer.html

We’re planning a livestream to raise money for the Entertainment Community Fund, the charity that supports the writers, actors, and many other artists on strike. We are in solidarity with members of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA. The livestream will be tons of fun and we’ll be helping creatives fight for what they deserve! Psst… there will be guests.

At the very end of August (and the beginning of September), we’re headed to Dragon Con! More details to come!
