Hello everyone, as some of you know EA has updated their policy regarding mods and what creators are allowed and not allowed to do.

On this policy, EA makes no mention of early access or beta testing. The only official statement from a legal standpoint at this time is a post from ex-cm Kate. (*See below photo) This post states that early access is allowed as long as the content is made available within the designated timeframe of 2-3 weeks. This is what I have always stood by, and will continue to stand by unless EA makes an amendment to the policy regarding these matters.

Those new or returning to my Patreon. I would like to explain how I treat my "Early Access" content. When I make a new creation I allow users to optionally subscribe for early access to my newest creations. This allows me to get feedback about features, changes, and issues. So that I can do my best to provide changes needed before public release. This is the best current method for me to be able to still give people access to wip content and help me test things, as it is for many many creators.

Most creators in the community follow all of the above EA policy guidelines, myself included. These changes in the policy were to help prevent EA property right infringement as well as help prevent perma "paywall" content. The term paywall meaning, content that will never be shared publicly without paying for it. You will never find any of my content behind a paywall. All of my content will always follow EAs policy guidelines. Meaning at this time, my content will always be only early access for a limited testing period of 2-3 weeks, and then made public here on Patreon as well as my website srslysims.net for all to enjoy.

As I have stated before, and just for good measure, I would like to say it again. I am not affiliated with EA or Maxis. I am just an individual who loves The Sims and enjoys creating and working doing what I love. In the coming months I plan to have lots of fun content releases as well as weekly twitch streams, mod walkthrough videos created, content creation tutorials, and much more.

To those that have supported me here on Patreon, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart. As some of you know, I quit my primary job in 2019 after where I had been employed and finally closed its doors. I was given the option to leave with what I put in, or relocate to another city. Unable to locate I left and decided I wanted to pursue my own dream of being able to work doing what I love. The thing I love most is modding video games. Even in my free time, that's what I'd rather be doing over anything else. I have modded many games over the years and am part of many modding communities. The reason I'm here is because this is the game I love most, and doing what I love most. If it wasn't for all of you, I would not be able to continue growing and creating the way that I have been for the last 4 years. I hope to be able to continue creating and do not plan to stop any time soon.

I would like to ask all of you here on Patreon about what you would like to see going further from me. What kind of content? What types of streams or videos? What types of things would you like to have for your Patreon subscriptions from me?

Update aug 2nd 2022

EA has actually updated their official policy on Early Access content. So early access will continue as it always has.
Their still will be some adjustments to tiers in the next few weeks with new\changed perks.

They didn't actually say that - they said they won't (i.e. can't afford to) actively monitor every paywall, but that if someone reports it they will take action on it. What they've done is put the responsibility on the community to alert them there is a problem. On the Patreon side, they've basically said "follow these instructions and you're certified ok". Whereas the paywalls are outright forbidden.

I'm supporting you regardless

Thank you for being transparent and playing by the rules (even as EA changes the rules on you). Barring financial catastrophe on my end, I'm not planning on changing my support level anytime soon.

You have my support for as long as I am able. I enjoy your work and early access or not I am here for all that you do!

Blarean50

you will still have my support! i adore your mods

SimsChic214

I need your mods. Early access and that doesn't matter to me either way. I love what you bring into the game so I'm going to continue to support that and regular donations are perfectly okay with me.

I think you're wonderful and plan on still supporting you

I am glad EA is now explicitly saying early access is okay, I know this has been a source of stress for a bunch of modders trying to strike a reasonable balance.

My game is rather bland without your mods specifically SCCO so thank you for making mods, I really love and appreciate your work. Also thanks for being extremely helpful on discord ❤️

I would have supported you even without early access, you and a few others actually make the sims worth playing,
