Broadcast tone means, when they speak more formally because they know they are being recorded for broadcast. This is a reality show so they are supposed to act and speak how they do when no cameras are around at home or at work. But younger members have a problem with it, because they speak informally at the dorm or wherever, but because it's on camera they always add formalities like Unni because not doing so may get them some backlash and it teaches kids counter to Korean culture. Lilly struggles because she doesn't want to be judged as a foreigner making errors speaking Korean. So when there are cameras she naturally slips into "Broadcast tone" or speaking more formally, less slang, less improper pronunciation. The same is true for the younger members like Kyujin
