THE CNC MILL MACHINED ITS OWN PARTS (Patreon)
Content
Hi everyone!!
In the last video I left two sets of 3D printed parts on the machine, the leadscrew nut brackets and the motor mounts and that's a great excuse to machine the replacements with the machine itself.
I gave it a go and was able to machine the motor brackets out of 10mm alu plate and the nut brackets out of 20mm plate. Although I still haven got the proper bits for each material and my feeds and speeds are all over the place the machine behaved well and I was able to do the job after a few tries.
I don't have the knowledge or the tools to find out if the machine is any better with metal parts or with 3D printed parts and to be honest I'm sure that the other known issues of the machine will be orders of magnitude more important.
I'll leave the door open to another attempt at the frame to try and get something that is better squared and parallel but I still need to think about it.
This is a project I've been enjoying a lot and I hope you are enjoying it too. Thanks!!
