Lets try this again.

Now that the movies have made us experts on the source material, lets see if they get it right in Percy Jackson and the Olympians! This Disney+ series apparently has the author of the books on board, so Micah & I are hopeful we’ll finally understand why everyone is so dang passionate about this demigod.

The myth of Medusa is actually a lot more sympathetic than what's usually portrayed. She was originally a beautiful human girl, and was one of Athena's "sacred virgins," aka women who pledge their lives to Athena in worship & vow to remain celibate. Depending on the version of the story, Medusa is either r*ped by Poseiden in Athena's temple, or consensually has sex with him. Athena then punishes Medusa for forsaking her vow & desecrating the temple by turning her into a gorgon. Also, carrying around Medusa's head as a weapon is something that happens in the myth of Perseus.
