Los Showmanos!

Bust out the piragua and blast the AC, because you know it's gonna be a hot ass time when Miles, Andrew, & Nick are around. Hamilton branched the Showmanverse off into the Lin-Manueliverse, so how could we not watch In The Heights?!

A little bit of twerking, a good amount of singing, and a whole lot of wondering whether or not that one actress is wearing old-age makeup.

Now shut the fuck up and let us listen to our block.

I love the musical so much and therefore am still so disappointed by all the changes they made :(( Sonny was one of my favorites in the stage production! I love that Nick loved the movie so much! I feel like y'all would love the stage production if you haven't watched a recording/heard the soundtrack for it yet. I feel like a lot of the things they changed made the story feel clunkier. Ah well. Also I do NOT cosign the Piragua Guy hate ☝️ But either way, thank you guys for a fun time!! Was looking to watch the movie again knowing full well I did not love it the first time, so thank you for helping me through it.

Yes I feel the same way!!!! I have no idea why they made so many changes to the story for the movie like taking out A WHOLE CHARACTER WITH A SONG (Nina's mom) and removing like half the songs and changing the lyrics for the other half among other major changes. It seems like they wanted to put more focus on and build Vanessa and Usnavi's relationship but it feels like that was at the cost of taking away from the other main characters and relationships like Nina and Benny. Anyways always a good time with the showmen and fingers crossed for a Into the Woods twerk a long in the future!

I am delighted this exists because 1) I'm hoping for Greatest Showman level of commitment from each of you and 2) since it's not available on HBO Max anymore :( at least we can watch you guys watch!!!

I literally thought you guys were saying "beer agua" the whole time and didn't realize it until I finished the while track and read this post.

I used to listen to the Broadway soundtrack on repeat and have seen the show so I was excited for the commentary! I loved the movie, but they definitely changed a lot. In case you're interested, some of the major changes are that they cut the character of Nina's mom altogether and a couple of the songs that both she and the dad sing. The play takes place all over 3 days which makes some of the song lyrics make more sense or made it so they had to adjust lyrics. In the show, Usnavi and Abuela find out she won the lottery much sooner, before she dies (like Carnival del Barrio happens before she dies). Her death comes closer to the end. And the ending with the painting is different! Also, random fact: the guy who played George Washington in Hamilton/Mr. Softee was the original Benny on Broadway! Loved this! Piragua guy (Lin) shows up consistently throughout the show partially as a reminder of the heat. He's the character that opens the show if I remember.

What the beer, fellas?

The way Eric feels about Showman is how I feel about this movie. I saw it like 4 times in the theaters. It's just a fun time, and I love how uncynical it is. Hamilton is better for sure, but I love this movie! Also, I saw Hamilton at the Fox Theater two days ago, and I cried it was so good seeing it live!

Katie Holmes

hey it's finally on hbo max so now i'm finally watching! woohoo!

Ben

The funny thing is that in the London production there literally WAS a spray paint portrait of Aduela that gets revealed at the end of the show...

Hjalmar Andersen

Now in Miles' defence, he was right predicting a Spider-Man reference... Patrick Page played the Green Goblin in Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark the Musical

finally catching up on all these tracks and Eric I genuinely felt so emotional during Paciencia y Fe and what you were saying because my grandma is also Cuban and I think about her during that scene and love it so much more because of the family connection
