They have for sure been setting up Will's sexuality since the first season when Joyce talks about kids calling him queer. Will's original character pitch to Netflix reads that he has "sexual identity issues" and the script for season 2's finale says that during the snowball dance Will is looking at Mike, not the girl he is dancing with. It's also been a consistent theme throughout the show that Will is "different" from other boys. The "you don't even like girls" comment from this episode is definitely a bit of a confirmation if the rest wasn't enough already. I'm hoping they expand more on it in season 4.

i actually cannot believe two straight dudes are writing such a realistic, sympathetic portrayal of a gay kid in the 80s. like say what you want about the show overall but at least they're doing that bit right

I kind of interpreted the Will thing as the fact that in the first season, when they were still young and playing dnd, he was in the upside down and dealing with all that stuff. Then in the second season he was dealing with all the mindflayer being possessed stuff when his friends had moved on to the arcade and were growing up in that way. So now that he isn't really having to deal with anything from the upside down and is trying to live normally, he is trying to be a kid again like he was when all the crazy stuff started, but his friends have all grown up without him - he hasn't grown up in that way cause he basically missed that part of his childhood? Maybe I'm reading too much into it but that's why I really liked Will's little arc this season anyway :)

so far you guys seem to have a different opinion than the opinions I've seen. The opinions I've seen absolutely love season 1 and love season 2 except for episode 7 but are dissappointed with season 3. While you guys think season 1 and 2 are just fine and season 3 is great, which is interesting.
