imo it was just kinda removed from the story and that lead me to not be that entertained with it, especially considering all the characters just dissapeared after the episode was over

Well you see, like with Star Wars and newer Simpsons episodes and Imagine Dragons, the internet just decided this episode was the worst one and that they hated it. Nobody actually has an opinion about it or their own criticisms. They just see that it's trendy to hate this episode so they hate it too.
