2021 Update
This old commentary track has been edited and re-released. For a few years we went through a sort of "anti-PC" phase and used hurtful language in an attempt to be edgy, but in reality it was just shitty. We can now assure you that this track is safe for all to enjoy!

Lemony Snicket's A series of Unfortunate Events

Dear Viewer If you enjoy movies filled with singing rabbits, exploding spaceships, or cheerleaders, you are holding the wrong dvd entirely. This movie is extremely alarming, an expression which here means "a thrilling misadventure involving three ingenious orphans and a villionous actor named Count Olaf (Jim Carrey) who wants their enormous fortune." It includes a suspicious fire, delicious pasta, Jim Carrey, poorly behaved looches, Billy Connolly, an incredibly deadly viper, Meryl Streep, and the voice of an imposter named Jude Law. The only things that could make such a spectatcle more upsetting are special features, such a scommentary by me or outtakes involving nervous laughter. I am bound to continue my research into the lives of the Baudelelaire orphans, but you are free to seek lighter fare, like bleu cheese fondue. With all due respect, Lemony Snicket.

Its comedy geez we all know he doesn't have malicious intent or at least pretty sure he doesn't and he haven't gave anybody not to not give him the benefit of the doubt

yep i went back and checked and didn't find a reason to edit it out. i've been posting content on the internet since i was 13 years old - almost 20 years ago - so you're gonna find a lot of old opinions i no longer have and/or opinions you just don't agree with, especially in a track like this that's a decade old! we'd be editing everything forever if we were trying to hide that some of our opinions have changed between when we were 13 and 30 haha

I completely understand how there's old views out there, we all have them. I was just trying to point this out since you were trying to edit out hurtful things. I've been listening to you for a long time, I know a lot of your views have changed. Thanks for responding.

Jordan Hitchcock

Which is exactly why I made a comment about it. If I wasn't giving the benefit of the doubt, I would have just taken it at face value instead of asking for clarification. Geez.

and i appreciate you pointing it out in case we missed something we would cut, thank you! i'm sure i'm saying things now that i'll cringe at in another decade haha

Hi there Eric and Team, I was wondering if this commentary track still exists or if it has been deleted. I seem to be getting only the 'This video is no longer available' message, but I am new to patreon so I might be doing something wrong. This is one of my favourite movies and I am sure your takes on the would be hilarious. Thank you in advance :)

the embedded video is the movie itself available for rent on youtube, the commentary track is the file linked at the bottom of the post!

You should probably remove how you talk about the with a Black woman being allergic to watermelon. It's not funny and intention doesnt matter. Don't think this commentary track is safe for everyone. It's more than just a stereotype.

agreed! that's why we went back and edited our old content. you'll have to let me know the timestamp tho so i can take a look, we went through hundreds and hundreds of hours of content we produced over the past decade so i'm sure we missed a coupla things here and there. thanks!

I agree with everything you said except about intention. Intention is one of the most important factors. I can't control how you react you anything, so if you get upset that I say the word "orange" then your offense is irrelevant because my intent is clearly not malicious by just saying the word orange. Please consider how this "Intention doesn't matter" stuff only serves to be abused by malicious people looking to silence people rather than inform them.

just wanted to bring up that this is still in the track
