The Yassification of One Penelope Featherington

Penelope & Colin? Really??? Hell after they were able to turn me around on the Queen, I trust Bridgerton to make me fall in love with anyone. That's right baby, we're back in horny town with a third season of one of my favorite shows!

Overall, this season was both different in ways that I think were an improvement, but also detrimental at times to the story. I definitely was skeptical watching by the end of season 3 part 1, seeing as the first half focused on Penelope and Colin's relationship building which felt rushed. Then, when part 2 came out, I watched episode 5 and 6, then took a break for a few days, feeling that the show was feeling repetitive with the several fakeouts of Lady Whistledown being revealed. However, I finally watched episodes 7 and 8 today and I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised. These episodes felt much more exciting than the previous, actual stakes with the reveal potentially ruining the reputation of Penelope and her relationship with Colin and the other Bridgertons. Also, something that I think really shines in this show are the non-romantic relationships. One of my favorite scenes was the unspoken understanding between Violet and Lady Dansbury as they both show their unwavering support and love for each other's friendship. Another great duo is Benedict and Eloise, both bonding over their mutual feeling that they don't fit in to the traditional expectations of marriage. And it was so great to finally see Penelope and Eloise together, which I love. All in all, this season definitely had some issues pace wise but the last few episodes really nailed the Bridgerton tone we all love. I'm definitely excited to see where this show goes next season, especially if we get a Benedict glowup because I can't imagine the character being more attractive lol. It sucks it's not coming out for at least 2 years, but if they do a spin off, I would love to see a prequel of Violet and Edmund meeting and getting married. That way we get to see a lot of our favorites from Queen Charlotte in the past (Lady Danbury, Charlotte, Brimsley, etc.) but also we are given more context to why Violet speaks of how passionate her relationship with Edmund was, and how it has influenced the Bridgerton's family's future relationships.

Again, I would have never watched this show if not for these commentary tracks. This season ended up being great in the second half. This episode was so satisfying it could have been a series finale.
