Hey guys,

so still busy rendering. Unfortunately I am having some issues with my render PC. I think I've shown it before, but I attached another picture. It's... not pretty :D

The cards are 3090 and 2x2080ti

Right now the render is crashing either blender or the entire pc. After some tinkering, I found out that if I enable just the 3090, the render goes through (not without hitches but it works). That's really annoying, since I spent a lot of money and effort to support this kind of multi-gpu configuration and I end up using just one card.

The good thing is, the 3090 is just so god damn powerful, it shreds through frames on its own anyway. Right now I am not gonna touch anything since the render is running, but after that I'll see if driver updates helps, otherwise I might just sell the 2080tis and put it in a normal case.

Good luck, remember that every difficulty you encounter becomes a lesson. It’s all about the process and your growth! Stay focused …:)

The issue is probably your power supply. even if 1300w are much, an 3090 allone can draw 350 watts or more (some cards even draw 420 watts). And two 2080TIs do not make that better. Depending on your cards they can also draw 200 to 250 watts or more each as well. So its just that youre PSU just can't hold up if we add a CPU to the mix aswell, esspecially considering that a PSU is never 100% efficeint anyways. Id recomend you to remove the two 2080TIs, test the render, than remove the 3090 and add the two 2080TIs back in and test the render again and see what is faster for you. Probably the 3090 though cause its just the much much faster card on its own, based on Cuda-, RT- and Tensorcores alone, not even considering the dencer arcitecture. EDIT: Just saw that youre using an EVGA 3090 FTW (Ultra?). That card definetly draws more than Nvidias spec, so more than the base 350 Watts (couldn't find the exact number but if I'm not completly wrong i think this card is allowed to draw arround 380 Watts out of the box due to higher boost clocks and oc headroom on the oc bios wich i think is the one it is set on out of the box too). That actually can cause issues, esspecially if the shutdowns are PSU relatet. If that happens to often something might pop (an vrm or condensator or what ever). Allthough i saw risers cause issues as well. if there unsheelded once and your having alot of static arround you, that can cause crashes as well. Hope could help a little (PS: I'm a IT guy so i do that for a living)

Thanks for the input. I've been running this configuration for a while without issues. Main problem is blender complaining about running out of GPU memory, which seems weird since I render the scene on my main pc which "only" has 3080ti with 12gb ram. The 2080tis have 11 but they don't need to run windows, that runs off the 3090 and if I check with afterburner I am getting weird numbers. Right now the render is running and I don't want to touch anything, after that I'll try some tests like smaller scene, disabling cards etc. I do have another PSU that I can daisy chain, so I could try that as well...
