I remember thinking way back when I first saw the Martin arc realizing: this show does a good job at bringing in some random person and making you go who the hell is this? get on with it! and then pulling at your heart strings with said character even if just a little be it in a single episode or across multiple episodes. Then on top of that make them plot relevant either directly or indirectly. I was caught off-guard once again.
