Imo this next episode forward is where Yu Yu Hakusho hits its stride. The ending of the Spirit Detective Arc/Saga which were in now and next arcs forward is all gas. Just the start of the show can be slow. You can even tell some of the dub cast are getting into their roles still imo. But the reason the dub is so liked is because how much us added to the characters as the show goes on. Generic lines are instead ones filled with more personality depending on who of the 4 MCs are speaking. The sub just is so bland in comparison when it comes to the main characters we need to feel for.

Also in the manga Miyuki (the trans demon) says “she is a man in body but a woman in spirit” which was Togashi’s interpretation of the trans experience. The anime decided to take a more perv/comedic approach which I didn’t like really. The inclusion of a trans character is something that is pretty close to Togashi as his first pitched manga was a sports manga that featured a “cross dressing” MC and many other queer characters.
