I think you mix up the timeline a bit. Remember Frieda met Historia when she was a child. So Grisha would not have been able to eat her 20 years ago. In the episode where Rod told historia about Frieda and how Grisha stole her power he said it was 5 years ago.

Rod Reiss loss his family the same day as Wall Maria was breached. Grisha took the Founding Titan from Frieda that night. Now remember back in Season 1 we saw Grisha was frantically making his way back to Shiganshina from an "appointment". Now in Season 3, we see the events play out before he transfers the power to Eren.
