It was quite a creative american cartoon that went against the norms of conventional children's animation airing at the time, borrowing many east asian cultures, particularly China and japanese influence. Other american cartoons airing at the time were Kim Possible, Teen Titans, ben 10 and aqua teen hunger force. Not to cast dispersions on those tv series, but nothing quite matched the bold creativity and themes presented in a market that was dominated by westernized shows.

Its really interesting how different the US vs Canadian versions are on Netflix. So far in ever episode the US version has a little 2-3 second pause for each commercial break and occasionally certain scenes have slightly longer establishing shots. This episode even has a recap at the start that is nonexistence in the Canadian version it seems.

We’ll have to find a better version We have up to ep 8 in this format, and we’ll change after that. Really annoying honestly it makes the whole “timer” uncut thing a pain for you guys

I never got into it but samurai jack as well was a big deal. My entire motivation for wanting to go to film school and study writing was originally to make something like avatar. Cause I was so inspired by Anime, since I had just gotten really into it, and I noticed that other than atla, there wasn’t really anyone capitalizing on the west’s appetite for anime style content (not just edgy 2d animation, but thing made for westerners in the tradition and of the sensibilities of Japanese animation) Now we have a few things that try to tap into that. And they’re alright (Castlevania is the closest from what I can tell, but also Invincible & Vox Machina), but they all still feel like just live actions shows that were animated in 2d and feel like they’re for marvel fans, or just not striking that feeling you get for anime. And as we know, the Japanese producers and executives don’t usually count on returns from the western market. Until recently with one piece. So there’s this huge chunk of viewers that by every account are seen as “second-rate” or are just not as important to cater to. And that’s what I always wanted to make something for. Maybe that day will come But yeah Avatar is the only thing that I know of that is an example of what I’m saying. It’s truly one of a kind.

It doesn't bother me personally but I'm sure you've gotten other complaints. Whatever gives you guys the best viewing experience is what's important to me. I've seen this show so many times that I could probably quote most of the episodes, pausing a few times is no big deal

Yeah I've noticed that too. The best times to sync up seem to be at the title card and after the commercial break

So I'm from germany and we have the same version as you so i guess that it is probably just the US that has a differnt version. So I understand that the US is likely your biggest audience and it's fine if you choose to switch to their version, but I just wanted to let you know that "solving" tha issue for the US will cause it for everyone else.
