Fun fact: The opening of episode 144 with the ship falling was how the first English release of OP “ended” (got canceled). If you guys have time you should definitely watch a comparison video of the sub and 4kids dub of OP, it’s insane how butchered it is. It almost ruined OP in North America

almost? It did, lol Turned me off The moment I saw usopp and nami with the ruffer knife and water pistols taking the place of real guns. Arlong's terrible voice. I was done. Its one of those moments where I also detested the art style and design because it kind of went hand in hand with 4kids dub. Yep thats how i got introduced to OP and I never looked back until years later. Do you blame me? At the same time we had stuff like Dragon ball Z, sailormoon, Gundam, knights of the zodiac and Rurouni Kenshin. The 4kids dub is THEE reason why i never was a OP fan in the early days and instead fell in love with bleach and naruto. Looking back at it now though, i think the 4kids dub has gained some what of a cult following and it is a generally interesting watch now just to have a few laughs and see how much they butchered Oda's masterpiece.
