This is a message for if you only if you guys have watched episode 130 yet: We all agree. Like 95% of the Fandom agrees.

Similar to Buggy & Koby, Django had a cover story too (1 picture at the beginning of each chapter over the course of the Arabasta saga) that described how he got there & befriended Fullbody lmao It's a quick skim through, in case you wanna find out for yourself: https://imgur.com/a/fCK4AW1 or https://youtu.be/xPs_4y0le04 (as a 4min vid) Also, I really fw this setup but whatever works out for y'all

LeeJay

2nd this, there are a few manga side stories that aren't animated, yet are canon and you see the results of them within the anime. Imho, they aren't too crucial to understanding everything, but they do close some gaps you may encounter as the story goes on. EDIT: I also like the different setup!

Extra Crispy

Don’t get it twisted Namis going to get that paper 😂

If you have watch 130 then... Spoilers: In oda's original draft, pell was supposed to die, but unfortunately due to history and the 9/11 attacks that took place at the twin towers during the publishing of these chapters, oda felt that he needed to change this as to not present the idea of someone blowing himself up with a bomb. It was a very sensitive time for our country and its understandable why oda felt compelled to change the story. We the fandom have dubbed this as the "WILL OF P" which is a meme at this point, as the one revival of a character in one piece that makes just no sense and unfortunately devalues his heroic sacrifice. Your probably going to rant like crazy in Ep130 discussion lol but thats ok.

SomeoneElse

I don't think there is any proof of 9/11 having anything to do with this, other than people taking a guess and others reading it as fact and spreading it The community makes light of Pell and refers to it as the Will of P There is only one logical story explanation for his survival but I think they have to get a bit further in to know, and even then it's still just a duct tape theory. I think Oda just didn't like killing characters early on as his target audience was kids and young teens Just don't step foot in a backstory 💀

Gaetan

Are we sure than the 9/11 reason is not a myth ? I keep seeing that in comments section but never found the interview or what to confirm it (haven't dig too much). Cause i've also seen people talking about his child watching the anime at very young age, an older in his family who asked him to not kill too much character, etc... And there is also some who tried to justify it by saying than falcon peregrine dive down is one of the fastest thing on earth + zoan type kind of boosting physical ability to tank it + 4 days of recovery in a world where zoro 5 minutes after near death experience was running in the city with nami on his shoulders. Anyway imo, it was clearly a mistake even if the theory of "it was for good reason" is true.

Tomas

All I heard about the Pell situation is that it was an editor's suggestion that Oda regretted. BUT, new watchers don't read this as it is a hint to future events, the series waits quite a long time for a specifc death to be the first, non flashback, death in the series. And it's a big one.

Veritas

It was never confirmed so I also very strongly push that "the 9/11" timing factor is a myth and coincidence until proven otherwise. Correlation does not equal causation. (I still like the Pell thing we got but that doesn't mean I wouldn't appreciate or prefer the alternative)

Veritas

Shout out to the Live Action referencing Mirror Ball island

This new setup is good. Was pretty used to the previous set up but this one works just fine too, especially if it's overall better for you guys.

Tomas

Don't worry about the setup, the only complaint I could think of is the head on view having symmetry. You got a blank wall to dressup with this one though! I might be talking out of my ass here but I remember Oda getting asked about Chopper and Luffy looking over the wall in the bath, and his excuse was that they just responded like that to fit in with the rest of the group. They're shown to have pure non perverted energy later on.

megalazyguy

fun fact, the reason luffy acted like that from nami's happiness punch was because usopp was there.

Anonymous

Don't know how well it'll do for a reaction, but i would like to see their reactions to some of these cover stories. I also don't mind the setup.

Artimes

I guess most people approve of its validity because the chapter was literally published RIGHT after the 9/11 attacks. I mean what are the odds, other wise it would just be an extreme coincidence if it really had nothing to do with it but most people point to that obvous result Since 9/11 was world news and terrorism was shocking the world at the time, the assumption and theory was that Oda widthdrawed from killing Pell from the bomb as to not protray that kind of shocking material for the sensitivity of america. You can choose to believe it or not, thats up to you.

Baronizer

definitely check out the cover stories if you wanna know how certain people got from a to b

Kwuagga

Alabasta? More like Alabama, amirite? ...😂

FoxfireEspresso

I like the other setup better but if it's a better viewing experience for you I'm 100% for that

SomeoneElse

Need that next episode ASAP 😐 great reactions as usual!

Malcolm dean

Whether it was really due to 9/11 or not I’m not sure but I personally don’t think it was you gotta think about where once piece was globally back at this time I don’t think it was the giant it is now one piece probably wouldn’t have been as popular in the states especially for the manga for people to even be offended or put off by the explosion happening

Kwuagga

Are we caught up at 128, or are we getting a potential double drop, any big brain who knows? 🤓

EOussama

The post-arc episodes are always so good and chill man, I live for this kind of episode. It's crazy how Vivi was introduced in the most unconventional way and then we slowly got so attached to her that it feels so sad even thinking about moving forward and leaving her here. About the setup, whichever one you enjoy watching in more is the one we'd like.

Cameron B

Hope they check out the cover stories as they come up, even if it's off camera.

EOussama

Would LOOOOVE to see them react to these, especially the you-know-who one.

If you want to know why jango is a Marine now, you have to read die Coverstory Series Number 3

Risrka

btw if yall want to know how Jango became a marine Oda did a short story about in the manga chapters covers it doesn't have any spoilers if u guys wanna check it out its called (Jango's Dance Paradise) there someone in youtube who did it with narrations so you guys might check it out (no spoilers btw) https://youtu.be/yDwMGo_8Z1I?si=Gnk2Cupef1Zs240P

One of the things One Piece does better than many other series is the denouement at the end of a big arc. Most shows have a great climax and some decent immediate conclusions. But One Piece knows how to make them feel not like a chore, but a reward. Like we feel the relief and good vibes the other characters feel. It's not something we have to slog through to get to the next arc, it's something we can enjoy.

David Jaegers

With the filler coming up you guys have made some good progression, nakama

Adri Garrido

It would be nice if you react to the Jango ministories, when you see how this happened. This are stories that are told in the cover of some episodes. Previously, the Koby and Helmeppo training, and the Buggy and Alvida getting together, has been adapted and you have watched it. But from now on most of them have not been adapted and they have some really nice tie ins into some events.

VongoGai

For the setup I would rather say I'll enjoy whichever you enjoy it best really :)

Ben Swaggerty

Jango’s reappearance in this episode is the first of many examples why the anime should’ve kept adapting the chapter cover stories

Will.Har310

I don’t really think that particular one matters that much. Maybe I’ll be proven wrong in future chapters, but so far he’s just a cameo character.

Pretty sure I read somewhere that "Mellorine" is a sort of foodie play on words between meromero (falling madly in love/drunk) and possibly tangerine, which are Nami's thing. Mellorine is also a dessert-type thing (some kind of ice cream-like thing).
