2023-11-24 10:58:08 Yeah, the live action kind of downplayed my boy luffy and created more of a human person. Oda wrote luffy in such a way that he is kind of like Goku in a way, he doesn't give a shit about other people's problems or cares about understanding there whole back stories or there history. He just knows that he has to protect his nakama at any costs, especially if that person's emotional baggage is directly a result of their past and history or other such enemies that obscure there vision to living a happy free life. He will go to the ends of the earth to eliminate those obstacles in any way he can and I just love this about Monkey D. Luffy. It is the way he is and nothing will ever change him. And if you get in the way of that, you will unleash the beast within him and his rage will know no bounds. There is one other scene also coming up that i feel they did not capture very well in the LA and you will see immediately what that is. It goes back to HIM represented as a character in the source Vs the Live action counterpart.

Peak piece baby! Also yeah I LOVE luffy doesn’t know namis back story because he doesn’t need to know.

BashCat

ive been waiting

Yeah like I mentioned during the LA, I was really waiting for this scene. And while the scene itself was done perfectly, the few things surrounding it were handled much better here. Both Luffy not knowing anything, as well as Nojiko and Genzo and the rest of the village knowing everything hit differently.

Calling Oda a master of emotional manipulation would be an understatement. And East Blue is only the prologue of the story, this is him warming up. This episode, among others, trained me to cry on command. Fans forever call this scene: "The Walk to Arlong Park"

Boldcast

she was born with it... definitely didn't punch her in the eye for making stir fry again...

2023-11-13 06:25:11 I could have powered a small fan with my chills during the walk. Shit is electrifying. This is the moment that sells most people on One Piece forever. When Oda decides it's time to get serious, he doesn't fuck around, and he is so good at layering detail upon detail to extract as much emotion out of things as possible, without it ever feeling like it's taking too long. It's always done so naturally. You feel every bit of it. It's so good. The live action did a really good job with the live action but with this arc in particular it barely scratched the surface tbh. They still did it well and I loved it but there was SO MUCH MORE going on in this arc than what they fit into the LA and it's great finally seeing you guys experience it I love how Luffy did not give a fuck about Nami's past. He cares about Nami NOW. It's a character defining moment that I think makes him pretty unique in comparison to most other Shonen MCs. Luffy might be a dumb lil goofball but his emotional awareness and ability to see through people is crazy. You can't help but love him.

It's cool af. Maybe if she kills a village she will unlock Mangekyo Sharingan 💪 don't try it

There it is, "The Walk to Arlong Park", a signature scene that I was disappointed they didn't include in the live-action. Much like how Carson described his favorite Attack on Titan moment in his essay video about the scene of the lake and the moonlight over it, this walking hype stretch is too, Anime-only content, filler if you will. Luffy's 0 Fs about backstory is soo good, exposition? Nahh, leave it to the viewers, Luffy has a walk to take, food to eat, or some sleep to catch up on, it's even more interesting how Luffy, at least in the Manga has no monologues, no internal talking, no inner voice, he thinks of something, he says it out loud. This episode really is the culmination of the arc and the entirety of the East Blue saga to be frank. Everything climaxing to this moment was just too good man, especially seeing not only Nami, but also the rest of the villagers gathering up the resolve to stand for one last time. Buckle up guys, for this is just Oda warming up for what essentially is a prologue to the story.

God Nami's voice acting is so amazing, that "Help me" really hits hard

During Baratie I was already completely invested and I liked the show, but after episode 37 I understood that instead of just a great show, I was watching something absolutely amazing.
