Haven’t watched it yet but joined your patreon for fruits basket early uncuts only. This is the only show that has made me a member of you and another channel’s patreon. Both you and AGoodwinTv are great at theorising and takes the series serious enough when needed which I really like. Looking forward to your theories. What’s the schedule for fruits basket btw?

I think your feelings here were valid, it's not something that bothered me but then this story has been with me so long that I legit don't remember and was probably too young anyways, but i definitely think it makes sense to not be totally enthused to have a bunch of confusing stuff that'll only make sense later rather than bits and pieces that add to overall intrigue. That being said that personally I do think the main takeaway of this is that you should be sus of Shigure rather than focusing too much on all the cryptic stuff that was shown here, which I also think is to mark a contrast from the 2001 anime where he has none of this suspense or moral amibiguity about his character. the mangaka famously had a big falling out with the director of the 2001 version and for this adaptation she wanted an entirely new team/voice actors etc that she approved so I can imagine that that played a part in making this heavy handed to mark that change from the og anime. Previous episodes already have a bunch of small moments that mean a lot more on rewatch, so I don't think this episode necessarily needed all that either. As always I enjoy your discussions and hope you continue to enjoy the show and don't let people potentially having a problem with mild criticisms here and there deter you! as much as i love this show i don't expect anyone to think it's perfect all the time

you always come in clutch, friend That's interesting to hear about the drama though lol, I wanna learn more about tha when the show is over. I am glad that shigure isn't just as flat as people are saying he was in the original series though, and I definitely got that there was more to him. BUt yeah, it just crazy how history repeats itself with stuff like this for us. I don't feel like we're ever that harsh on things, but people just immediately get defensive. It's unfortunate, but thanks to people like you, we're not gonna stop being honest. (and btw we watched ep 14 and holy fuck bro lol)
