Love this episode! One thing I will say about the 2019 reboot is that it is made with SO much love. The original Fruits Basket strays from the manga quite a bit but the reboot stays so true to the manga. Especially in Season 2 and 3, it feels like a passion project with how much love and care is put into each episode. Excited to get to those seasons! Also, tissues are always good to have nearby with this show. Definitely pulls on the heartstrings <3

Wow I made this comment before I finished your discussion, crazy! haha but to weigh in on your points about that "spark", I totally agree. And like I said, Fruits Basket (2019) almost feels like a passion project for those of us who grew up reading it and loving it. I remember when it was airing, there was always a comment where someone would say that the showrunners must have grown up with Fruba too, because you can just feel that they wanted to do the source material justice.
