Hey guys, for boruto I recommend you watch every episode. The 29 episodes listed as filler aren't filler except for one recap episode and a few of them cover important details or events you wouldn't wanna skip. Also despite what some people say the majority of the show isn't filler. The majority is anime canon which are canon events which weren't shown in the manga because it only covers the main plot. The author of the manga has confirmed that it's canon and it set's up and develops the characters in a way the manga doesn't. Epic and important things happen in the anime canon and an important and amazing arc which is tied into the main plot is anime canon so skipping the anime canon is like skipping half the story.

There is no such thing as anime canon for adapted anime . Boruto is an adaptation of a manga. The entire series is not canon. Just as it was with Naruto and so many others. There are some anime that are not adaptations and the original story is told in that way. However that does not mean just because an anime may be an adaptation that it can't be great, I am sure to some Boruto is. On of the greatest movies for instance of all time "The Shining" is an adaptation and some say is is better than the book it was created from. However the author does not support the movie as many changes were made to make it work on film. Almost every moment that happens in the manga is included in Buruto's anime. However like Naruto of 60% of the material we see simply is not there, which makes sense. Kishi wasn't writing it for that type of media. I'm am sorry but Kishi does not approve of the stories told within Boruto. If you like I can point you out to a translated interview with him and his hate for what the writers did to his creation. It is a large reason why he is now involved again.

I'd be interested to read the interview if you could link it please. I couldn't find him anywhere saying that he hates it. And despite the fact he didn't want to continue the story and was pushed he did write the boruto movie and supervised and now writes the manga so I doubt he hates the plot. He also supervised episodes 8 and 9 of the anime. And the reason he returned to writing the manga might be because the other manga he was working on failed. Also the naruto and shippuden animes were both half filler and he didn't hate those shows as far as I'm aware so I don't see why he would hate the anime for boruto. And whether the anime is canon to the manga or whether the two exist in different universes is up for debate but since they'll be watching the anime and since all the episodes are canon to the anime unlike naruto or shippuden I recommended them to watch them all because that's the story they'll be experiencing.

we just haven't gotten around to it. We weren't super crazy about season 1 like everyone else was so we're not incredibly eager to start season 2

He's Lying the fact of the matter is Animes can have its own canon if the authors say so whether its movies or anime adaption. Theres no Japanese rule stating Anime cant be canon, in Borutos case it has its own continuity that separates the manga & anime..... here do your own research on the subject... this tweet said a manga chapter was connected to the anime a lil while back by the author at the time- https://twitter.com/YourAnimeGuy/status/919953593737891840

Kishimoto himself was supervising the animes & mangas direction so they're both considered canon in their own ways.. he eventually stepped in because the old author was only ever a temporary replacement while Kishi was working on his new series Samurai 8. After that series bombed & got dropped from shonen jump kishimoto took over Boruto while the old author went to work on other things.. @Lachlan dont listen to people who don't have the facts to back it up lol i always do my research on these topics. There is more links i found but these should be good enough I guess & no Kishimoto doesn't hate Boruto cause he was freaking supervising it himself lol.
