I always thought it was interesting what novels they chose to adapt and didn't. Like Sakura's novel did a lot for her character but they didn't bother with that one lmao. I also really liked Kakashi's part 1 design, more than the shippuden one if I'm honest. Kishi's art style change is probably the reason but I liked in part 1 how the adults looked kinda gritty? I guess? Like more battle-hardened, Idk what the word for it is exactly but I just think a lot of the characters including Kakashi are a lot softer/cuter in shippuden which is kind of a shame. I know a lot of people prefer the cleaner look but I definitely prefer the part 1 art style. Also about Kakashi being hokage - i think it harkens back to that thing that's true about real life, people who *don't* necessarily aspire to be in positions of high power/and leadership actually end up being the best at those kinds of jobs. Like his ego doesn't affect it and he's a realist and just does what he has to do and thinks through everything. Also, episode 495 is very similar to the Rock Lee spin off show, if you want any indication of the humour of that show lmao

on the design stuff, I completely agree, but its been speculated by some manga readers (and I subscribe to this theory as well) that kishimoto largely took a more directorial seat as opposed to the main draftsman of the latter half of shippuden's manga, or at least for most of it. because if you compare the art style of boruto's manga and later shippuden, you see a lot more of that sterile clean and professional look to the character models, and much less of Kishi's characteristically erratic and wild style that brought so much personality and defined much of the early world of naruto. As far as I can see its night and day, and I much prefer kishimoto's earlier style in general to anything we're getting now. Not that the modern style is bad, it just feels very produced and repeatable. The lines are well balanced and have nice even proportions, even in the asymmetry, as opposed to Kishi's jagged and sharp energetic linework and shading. But I'm no artist, so i don't actually know. And as for the Kakashi thing, I think you're 100% correct, and that seems like an intentional character choice, but one that fits perfect with Kakashi's character at any point in the story. Its not a surprise that he would feel that way, and I would say that if he were elected hokage after the land of waves. Its just the way he is and that's what makes it feel good and real. and I watched a bit of the rock lee thing, I like it and want to watch it, but I'm not sure if lindsay would like it. Maybe we could do a stream of it sometime!
