Ty

Any arcane tomorrow?

Vivimay

No worries! 😊😊😊

Boldcast

Yes! Only one tomorrow, Lindsay has some plans during the day, but we’re gonna hold off on blue lock till next week so we can get on top of arcane

Monkey D. Lucci

Hate to sound like a broken record, but y’all should really read the cover stories.

Red Division

I'm sure many will point out, but Hachi's one of the few characters to get a Cover Story, which occurred around Chapters 182-228, which is roughly Episodes 113-148 (this being around the time the Straw Hats fought Baroque Works, up to the meeting with Montblanc Cricket in Jaya).

Sanji Joestar

Pappug and Camie's introduction with the Criminal brand is my favorite tidbit of world building Oda sprinkled throughout the story. Criminal is an easter egg appearing on a few characters outfits here and there. And not just that, there's other clothing brand in the world of One Piece. For example Doskoi Panda, with a drawing of a round panda. The most recurring example of the brand being Sanji's apron especially in early One Piece. Even they have fake off brands like Dosko1 Panda, cheaper than the real thing or Cyber panda, which sells sometimes even more than Doskoi. And yeah Pappug is part of that business😂 He also has his own fake off, Hitode, instead of a stitched star as logo it's just a star

Sanji Joestar

For pronunciation sake Even tho it's written ''Sabaody'' Archipelago It's pronounced ''Shabondi''.

Sanji Joestar

Too much Kokoro slander they're all so rude😂😭

Sanji Joestar

I remember you guys liking Hachi back in Arlong Park So was excited to see how you'd react to this 🔥

Richie the Lion

Hachi is a fishman. He doesn't restricted by Red Line and Calm Belt.

mediaocrity4

Yeah, the Hachi thing is in a cover story. Basically he had everything he needed to sail straight to the Fishman Island area so he was able to make the trip really quickly. Arlong and co were originally from the Grand Line (worked with the warlord Jimbe, which was already stated back in Arlong Park). They were basically too weak to compete with all the big shot pirates which is why they moved to the East Blue.

Jeremy

I know Lindsey misses thriller bark vibes hoping y’all both love the vibes for this next arc tho👌🏽

klairvoyage

On the topic of science in the OP world, we actually had a another scientist mentioned before, aside from Vegapunk. And it was technically even the the first one by name, since Vegapunk was yet only being alluded to back in Arabasta. The first episode of Jaya (the S-A-L-V-A-G-I-N-G one lol) was one of those rare instances where we got a narration box, which was sadly not included in the anime. It was the scene of the giant ship falling from the sky, and stated: "𝐀𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞... 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲." − Willy Karen, physicist

Isaac Sato

This wasn't conveyed in the subtitles at all, but the starfish/person song was all puns. In Japanese 'hito' (人) = person. 'hitode' (海星) = starfish. The song also combines 'hito' with 'de' (a particle) and 'desu' (polite sentence finisher), and also throws in words like 'hitodenashi' (人で無し; translated here as 'brute'), and 'hitode' (人手; 'human hand'; could also be 'manpower') . So the entire song is just a cascade of 'hito', 'hitode', hito de', 'hito desu', 'hitodenashi', etc. Basically it's a huge cringey dad joke, which is why everyone completely ignored him.

hussam abdelalim

you can guess to next year and you will never know

Дмитро Подорван

So if youre confused, hachi can just swim through sea bottom and easily get from east blue to grand line thanks to his fishman abilities

Sanji Joestar

Yes Even a starfish can talk if he thinks he can. '' The mind is a powerful thing ''

Sanji Joestar

I won't forgive Toei for removing that line. The introduction to Jaya is supposed to throw off your sense of logic with a ship appearing from the sky, crashing down, the log pointing up, a mysterious galleon from 200y ago, a giant turtle, giant shadows There's always a bigger fish. That quote is quite literally the opening statement of the arc and what thematics it'll handle. And they just erase it. Worse is the beginning of the arc is put at the end of a filler arc. And the next episode is just a fast recap. And they still leave the quote. Even tho the whole Skypiea saga is specifically about believing in dreams even when laughed at and told it's impossible and makes no logical sense. And that line applies to One Piece as a whole Lol just with this episode we have Pappag being able to talk because he just thought he could.

klairvoyage

Yeah, Papagu's speech about "the mind being a powerful thing", which is basically a replay/reminder of that scene, is what prompted me to bring it up... I had totally forgotten that they actually never got to see that quote Like, first of all, dropping the bombshell that physics is a thing – in this absurdist fantasy world – is crazy enough, but then to also have such a fantastical statement coming from a physicist??

Artemis

Duval unmasked is going to be quite suprising.

Artemis

Sadly Hachi is the one character of the fishman that was not included in the live action series. I guess the studio probably considered that the LA would not make it this far into the story so they decided to remove him from arlong park to cut time. To bad because oda clearly was not done with that character.

Nicolas LeBlanc

Octopus can regrow limbs/arms. Maybe Oda is dark and Hachi sells his body and eats fish to regrow limbs on side.

millecamps

or maybe they will introduce him here too and say he was part of arlong crew but left as he was not okay with how he was treating the human. that way he will still know nami and nami would have reason to have grudge but still forgive him etc...

BTImelesS

Isn't Hachi supposed to be the fishman who 's playing cards with Nami? I thought that was their attempt and they just cut his role. Either way, it's not going to work as it is, even if they say he left (especially if they say he left because of how the crew was treating humans) they will have to figure out a way to bring back the themes of what Oda has built. But if we reach Sabaody on the live action that's already a whole different story, who knows how many things have changed from Loguetown to Thriller Bark

Tomas

Wow can't believe they managed to guess Hachi's stand ability "Tangy Tendrils" that allows him to regrow his limbs to feed others.

Veritas

The cover story shows him killing an octopus monster though, the very one that guarded the recipe for his takoyaki .

Monkey D. Lucci

There’s what looks like vents on the back of the seats on the flying fish. Those could be engines.

Gino

They will introduce him in this arc in the Live Action, Matt already confirmed it on a stream.

ImZeaT

Yeah but everybody pronounces it as Sabaody since it's the official english name, so might as well stick with that

Artemis

Hey guys its come to my attention, that crunchyroll's japanese dub does not include OP 10, 11 or even 12, OP9 instead has been used as a place holder (thriller bark events) all the way up to episode 460. So with this being said on the platform, if you switch the audio to english, you will be able to react to the new openings. The openings are as follows: Opening 10: (eps 373-394) can be watched now (NO SPOILERS) Opening 11: (eps 395-425) Can be watched on ep 417+ Opening 12: (eps 426-458) this one is more complicated, will worry about it when you get there.

Adam Vialpando

Same with Opening 8 called Crazy Rainbow, probably my favorite OP of the first half. I always watched the dub so never knew that the sub skips so many openings.

Ty

There is a guide in the one piece spoiler chat on discord incase you havent seen it yet. They are able to watch op 11 at 423 and op 12 at 467

Artemis

@ty I see what you mean by 423, its very vague, but i guess still some what indicating spoilers of certain scenes in a future arc, so yes 423 is fine. OP 12 they will have to go back and re-watch because by Ep 467, OP 13 will be playing. Ahh got love the openings trying to spoil everything. Spoiling culture didn't really exist for shonen jump readers in japan because so many of the audience were manga readers.

ignorantWeed

Time to read cover stories
