Here's a single page story I wrote and drew in 2014 so I could experiment with the toning technique that I would later use in O-Type Hypergiant. I was in the middle of moving apartments in San Diego while preparing to move to England. Life was in general chaos, so a more existential horror-tinged form of science fiction really appealed to me.

I had all sorts of communist/post-communist garden plots going through my head at the time, too. For some reason I always come back to them looking for a story. These small allotments of land that you're given that will provide for the food that the state cannot have a really strange existential quality to them as someone who comes solely from First World countries. The feeling of being trapped somewhere and tied to something for your life to continue.

That sort of informed this story, and all of the extra world that exists between the gutters.
