I've always loved spreads where you can see the entire interior of a space, so I decided to do one for where the protagonist of our book works to open the third chapter.

I remember getting obsessed with navigating the space as a real location while designing it... and really just spending way too much making sure the counters were comfortable for the workers to make coffee, that the customers could see the cakes from the line and get to their seats easily... and had enough space to congregate in groups. It was around the time I was drawing the table layouts that I figured out that it was overkill (and getting caught up in that specific kind of excessive/obsessive building phase was one of the reasons why it takes me so long to make a comic).

But I'm totally going to dive back into the same mindset when it comes time to finalize this spread. (Sorry to my editor.)
