The way the bokeh looks with the panoramic camera is actually closer to reality than what the perspective camera shows. It's called optical vignetting and occurs more frequently on older lenses and lenses with a complex setup (like anamorphic lenses) I used to work as a cinematographer and have studied these things a lot 😊

Well that’s not really true, the spherical lens is really horrible when it comes to bokeh as there’s a very weird spiral effect going on in the center of frame and it’s not physically accurate. I use that camera when the bokeh doesn’t matter that much but the reason to why I don’t use it for everything is that it screws with the bokeh in an unrealistic way. For that cats eye effect it only occurs around the edges while the spherical lens spirals more and more in the center. For a correct optical vignetting you should put something covering the edges real close to the camera so it starts cutting the bokeh
