Hey dears

I made it to the lighthouse down here, and the best song keeps on growing.

From my heart, out of my tired hands and parched mouth, comes the light, spills the mend, heals the wounds. The sea, she is licking me clean. I’m so just happy. And I love you all a lot. I needed time off to just….heal, to bask, to collapse fully into the arms of love. It had been too long.

I’ll be back to work slowly next week, you’ll see me around.

I have been loving your comments on the last post. More soon on that. I have so many things to say back.

……

MEANWHILE -

For the locals!!!

I’m sneaking off from a lighthouse to post this. It checks out.

THIS SUNDAY (July 23) IN WOODSTOCK, NY…I’m gonna be in two places rigbt across the road from each other: an early Party Around a Piano show with Lance & Co @ Graveside and an Abortion Rights benefit across the street a few hours later. COME TO BOTH!!

First up, the later show:

NOISE FOR NOW is teaming up with Seeding Sovereignty to present a benefit concert for abortion access in New York state.

You know how much this issue means, so please come out and support if you can, and spread the word. I’ve been wicked offline and haven’t been able to promote as much as I wish I could’ve.

The concert will be at Colony Woodstock this SUNDAY July 23 at 8pm.

Proceeds from the show will support the New York Abortion Access Fund and independent abortion clinics in NY via Keep Our Clinics.  Hosted by Ida Hakkila,  performers include my wonderful friend Holly Miranda, Daniel Rossen of Grizzly Bear, Shana Falana, and Marc Delgado.

NOISE FOR NOW is is a national initiative that enables artists and entertainers to connect with and financially support grassroots organizations that work in the field of Reproductive Justice, including abortion access. NOISE  FOR NOW is the link between touring musicians, progressive promoters, athletes, artists and local reproductive rights organizations in cities across the country.

Seeding Sovereignty is a grass roots collective that works to radicalize and disrupt colonized spaces through land, body, and food sovereignty work, community building, and cultural preservation.

Keep Our Clinics provides funding to independent clinics to cover tangible expenses like increased security, building repairs, legal fees, and community education and advocacy. Independent clinics serve three out of every five patients in the U.S. each year who have an abortion.

See you tomorrow for the back to back music! I’ve been spreading the word but I’ll plug it again.

Attacks on women and the LGBTQ+ community have been getting so bad that I often wonder what decade I'm living in. Here is a woman and LBGTQ+ owned bakery who suffered such harassment, violence, threats and vandalism that they have been forced to shut their doors with employees showing signs of depression and PTSD. And this is a suburb of Chicago. Imagine what people in red states are experiencing. So much of the progress in this country is being undone. It's heartbreaking. https://www.facebook.com/100067512043704/posts/pfbid0muJfiYYBx7hK1uq3iidw7H1aKCD8rV3tyQrzW35qwkdckk5zvCEZ5K5JQ4gBbGFWl/
